Food & Exercise -- 5/6/2004 (Thursday) through 5/9/2004 (Sunday)

Well, I'm back from North Carolina.  My eating wasn't too bad, but
could have been better -- did too much nibbling on available goodies
at the B&B where we stayed :-).   And I exercised a couple of times --
not a lot, but I didn't plan to.

Food:

Thursday:

8:00 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese

11:00 (driving): energy bar

12:45 (Southern down-home style restaurant): 5 fried oysters, 2 oz.
each green beans and cabbage

3:00 (driving): apple

5:00 (B&B): 3 oz. wine, 1 1/2 oz. cheese, 4 crackers

7:00 (chain restaurant): 4 oz. wine; 2 cups salad w/ 1 tbsp balsamic
vinaigrette; 6 oz. broiled shrimp; 1/2 cup steamed veggies
(cauliflower, squash, etc.)

later at the B&B: 5 peanut M&Ms

Totals: 1424 calories (150 from wine), 47g fat (30%), 118g carbs
(33%), 101g protein (28%)

Friday:

7:30 (B&B): homemade sort of Egg McMuffin w/ 1 English muffin, 1.5
eggs, 1/2 oz. cheese; a couple of strawberries; 8 oz. cranapple juice

12:00 (Italian cafe at shopping mall): salad w/ 2 cups greens, some
shredded carrot, 2 oz. grilled chicken, 2 tbsp balsamic vinaigrette

5:30 (Mom's apartment): 3 oz. wine

6:30 (retirement home restaurant): 4 oz. wine; 1 cup spinach greens w/
2 tbsp hot bacon dressing; 4 oz. filet mignon; 2 oz. steamed
asparagus; 2 oz. Brussels sprouts, 1 scoop lowfat Milky Way ice cream

various times, at the B&B: 12 peanut M&Ms, 4 small chocolate chip
cookies

Totals: 1603 calories (150 from wine), 57g fat (32%), 159g carbs
(40%), 79g protein (20%)

Saturday:

9:00 (B&B): 4 oz. quiche; 1 medium-sized chunk of apple coffee cake; 4
oz. cranapple juice

12:00 (Chick Fil-A restaurant): grilled chicken salad w/ 1/3 oz.
sunflower seed kernels

5:30 (Mom's apartment): 4 oz. wine; 1 oz. cheese; 1 oz. mixed nuts

6:30 (retirement home restaurant): 1 cup tomato basil soup; 3 oz. mahi
mahi; 2 oz. asparagus; 5 oz. wine; 1 scoop lowfat Milke Way ice cream

various times, at the B&B: 12 peanut M&Ms, 4 small chocolate chip
cookies

Totals: 2024 calories (193 from wine), 80g fat (36%), 200g carbs
(40%), 84g protein (17%)

Averages for the week: 1391 calories, 28% fat, 41% carbs, 28% protein

Sunday:

9:30 (B&B): 3 oz. quiche; 1/2 banana nut muffin w/ 1 oz. sweetened
cream cheese

1:00 (retirement home Mother's Day brunch): 2 mimosa (4 oz. orange
juice w/ 4 oz. champagne); omelet (2 eggs, 1/2 oz. cheese, 1 piece
crumbled bacon); 1 oz. sausage; 1 cup salad greens w/ 1 tbsp balsamic
vinaigrette; 1/3 serving each of pecan pie, chocolate cake, lemon
meringue pie

6:30 (seafood restaurant): 2.5 oz. spiced shrimp; 5 oz. salmon
(broiled w/ butter); 4 oz. wine

various times, at the B&B: 6 peanut M&Ms, 2 small chocolate chip
cookies

Totals: 1861 calories (172 from wine): 87g fat (42%), 136g carbs
(29%), 95g protein (21%)

Exercise:

Thursday -- none, drove all day

Friday -- pushed wheelchair around the mall for a couple of hours; ran
1 mile on treadmill w/ pattern (1.5 minutes at 4.7, 1 minute at 6.0)

Saturday -- a little more wheelchair shopping; ran 1 mile on treadmill
w/ pattern (1.5 minutes at 4.8, 1 minute at 6.0)

Sunday -- none of significance -- a few household tasks that Mom can't
handle, like moving furniture around

Hope you had a good trip.  Isn't this a usual stop on the trip?

Thanks, it was an excellent trip!  And yes, this is a usual stop.  The
food and service are excellent, and it's almost exactly half way.
It's not open on Monday's or we'd have stopped on the way back as
well.  (For anyone interested, this is the Colonial Restaurant, just
to the south of Lynchburg, VA on Rt. 29.)

excessive eating on the trip :-)
