Hey all.
After having 5 great weeks of eating I finally found a hard week. And this
is why it was hard.
I was kept out most of the week preventing me from eating all the fresh
fruit and veggies I get at home as well as not being able to pre plan them
so that I make sure I get them. Wednesday was my husband's birthday so I
partook in a piece of birthday cake (vanilla cake, strawberry and some sort
of custard filling and a marzipan icing, I never ate the icing). We had hot
chicken one evening but leftovers so without fully realizing it I had
leftovers of that for 2 days in a row. That dish was not high in calories
but very high in sodium. I also haven't been home to drink my usual 2ltrs
of water (I used to be able to polish off 4 but I find that difficult now,
not sure why). Many days I have been out and parched. There were two days
where my calories were well below 1000 (in the 700 -800 range). It wasn't
on purpose. One day I got into a terrible fight with my husband and ate
very little because I was too upset to be hungry. The other day I was on
the run and grabbed what I could. By the time I got home the only thing I
had time for was half a bagel and cream cheese. To end the week, I was
visiting a ill Italian friend of mine. I had eaten before I went (another
unplanned choice, perogies and spring rolls. Daughter's choice but couldn't
think of anything else to have so I had leftovers). But being the italian
grandma that she is, she kept demanding that I eat something. First it was
an egg bread type cake then it was an orange (we settled on half), then it
was some articokes she had cooking (boiled down the water too much and ended
up being very salty). Then she insisted I try some boiled chicken that she
had cooking for soup. When I said it was good and very moist, she handed me
another ounce of it. All this about an hour before dinner. Needless to say
I wasn't hungry when I got home but felt (for my daughter's sake since she
chose the meal) that I should partake in the meal. My planned meal was to
be a soft taco with a salad on the side. What I ended up having was a soft
taco and a few of the nachos I made for my daughter and husband.
Yesterday was particularly bad because of the eating when not hungry thing
but the whole week was just in chaos for me as far as eating was concerned.
As a result I think I am retaining lots of water because of the increase in
salt and the lack of water to wash it all out. It's only showing a .5 loss
on the scale but I have one more day until official weigh day. Today I have
2 scrambled eggs (1yolk only because of cholesterol) planned but realized
this morning that we don't have any eggs. My sister is going to bring home
some fresh farm eggs from her FIL's chickens. So I will once again have to
re-plan.
THE GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In all that running around I did get in a few
decent walks. One was walking home from my head shrinker (at least 1 or 2
miles) and the other was a combonation of two walks. This one was much more
physical as it involved hiking and climbing off bridges. One walk lasted
2hrs and the second was 1 1/2. This could also be why my weight has not
moved.
Anyhow, thanks for listening!! I'm going to drink to a better week and I'm
definitely avoiding all extra salt and high sodium meals this week.

I'm sorry you had such a rough week.
It sounds to me like you stayed on plan pretty well, especially with
all the walking. A few days of less-than-perfect food choices are not
going to hurt your long-term positive effort.
>>I also haven't been home to drink my usual 2ltrs

Carry a water bottle with you at all times and drink some water, even
if it's just a sip or two, whenever you encounter a water source
(water fountain, sink in a bathroom, etc.). I keep two water bottles
in my car, plus a little one in my purse, and a larger one in my
briefcase.
Dehydration can have serious consequences far beyond stalling weight
loss, so take care.
As always, YMMV.

It bothered me more actually because I missed the fruits and veggies. The
choices (like hot chicken 3 days in a row) made me not feel as good as I do
when I pack my meals with healthy stuff.

For the longer walk, I did have water with me. I freeze bottles of water
and then drink it as it melts so I always have cold water. I only had
brought a liter though and that lasted only 1/2 the time. The walk home
from my shrinky dink was actually unplanned so I didn't have water with me
on that one. I still tried to grab water here and there but it never seemed
to be much more than a glass at a time when what I was really craving was my
litre.

I know that too and that's why I prefer to always plan. I think from now on
I will bring with me a 1/2 ltr of water (small enough to carry around
without being too much of a pain) and just refill it when I can.

Some weeks can be tough but you did manage to get in the exercise. There
will always be those times when things get in the way of our new woe/wol
but as long as we jump right back on track we'll eventually get to our
goals!
