I've been drinking 3 - 4 glasses daily before meals for 3 months now,
and have lost a total of 4 pounds.  It's no magic bullet.  Now I'm
going to try to cut calories back a bit (300) and see if I can get
closer to my goal (150) - I'm now at 159.  My blood pressure is lower
- it's ideal now at 75/115.  For me this weight loss is a real
struggle!

yup, one programmer to another, the last 10% is 90% of the work.....

I'm getting closer to my 'happy point' of 200, which I maintained at
1997-2000. I expect things to get more resistant to change once I go
under 200...

Heywood,

Congrats on the 32 pound weight loss!  I'm about 18 pounds lighter
than when I started 2 yrs ago (176/158/?).  Do you have to sit most of
the day like I do?  I think it makes it harder to lose - plus, for me,
the frustration of programming may cause belly fat gain.

Thanks. That ~30lbs was put on in a high-output job in the Valley
2000-2002, and looking at the calories I can say all of it was from Mt
Dew abuse (~32oz/day, every day). Once I cut out the Dew in 2003 I
stopped gaining weight.

I'm free to take an afternoon bike ride these days... the spare tire
is still with me, but the classic potbelly arch is definitely reduced.
I've read that some people lose weight from the top-down, and that
certainly applies to me...

Funny, I saw my greatest weight loss when I was programming the
hardest in early March. Focussed programming has always been an
appetite-suppressant, plus I expect I burn through the glucose too.

I had misconceptions that dieting and programming didn't mix (since
hunger and programming don't), but learning how to eat smarter means a
lot less hunger so my programming hasn't suffered.
