I just watched a fascinating show on the Discovery Health Channel.  It's
about this British woman who due to a car wreck and a growth hormone problem
gained up to 525 pounds and then lost 309 pounds.  She lost an average of 12
pounds a month, leaving her with a huge amount of excess skin.  She
undergoes a radical plastic surgery procedure in Kansas City, Kansas that
removes 35 pounds of excess skin and fat.  She still has some surgeries left
to undergo but when she's done she'll have had 1/3 of her skin removed.  The
show repeats tonight at 10 pm Central Time.

She looked much better even though she hadn't reached total recovery.  It
was a hell of a thing to go through.  Lots of pain and by the end of the
program time with her the swelling still hadn't totally gone away after six
months or so.  I hope they do follow up programs with her.  She is planning
on having surgery to reduce the saggy skin on her thighs also.  It said that
she wouldn't be done with surgeries until (I think) spring of 2005.  If you
can catch the next showing of it, I would recommend watching it.  There are
a few gross-out scenes but you can look away from those and not really miss
much.
