My computer got completely wiped by a virus. Just got it back from the shop,
new OS (WinXP) and news reader. I hate learning new software. If anyone can
offer some hints on how to navigate around this outlook express thing, I'd
sure appreciate it.

Smokey.

Back on the wagon too.

WinXP is very insecure from my experience.

Keep your virus protection software up to date no matter how much it costs.

WinXP is also very vulnerable to spyware, which aside from the privacy
issues can interfere with performance.  You can dowload spybot which
will clean these things out of your system as soon as they get deposited
to it:

I'd rather have my Netscrape 4.7, but unfortunately, that's gone forever. :(

Webroot Spy Sweeper.

I just hope these things are worth the 180 bones I had to shell out for
them.

Try firefox, available for free, from http://www.mozilla.org

It has tabbed browsing, pop-up controls, privacy controls, and more
features available through extensions.

That's the one I use.  I just installed in a few weeks ago and haven't had
any problems with it.

Good to hear from you Smokey.  Now you're back, I hope you'll join us
here a bit more often.  We could do with a bit of sanity around here:)

Not too bad, thanks. Spent the day playing moving van driver with a truck I
borrowed from work (One of those big Isuzu fish bowls). Wish I could still
climb, I'd love to get back into it on a daily basis.

Back on the diet and exercise wagon. I need to lose the weight I backslid
on, and the resulting paunch, by the end of Feb. Some friends and I are are
heading to Europe for a week.

Dang, just remembered, gotta get a passport.

Welcome back, Smokey! Looks like lots of us are working at chipping off a few pounds
of recently-gained weight ... I know I am.

Thanks, Diva! -- I definitely need this group to help with accountability. My body is
fighting hard to regain weight and I just need to keep on top of things on a daily
basis in order to outfox it. I want to follow your maintenance example -- and
apparently if I can keep it off for a year, my body will readjust and stop fighting
to regain. So right now I am dealing with 8 lbs. to lose to get back where I was and
then maybe a few more to get to goal -- though I want to set a goal range that I can
feel comfortable in. How are you doing?

I've not heard this before -- can anyone verify? Not that I don't believe
Mary; just that if it's true, it's good to know ahead of time...

Just great, thanks. Having to avoid disaccharide carbohydrates for
health reasons has proved a blessing!

I think I need to avoid them for health reasons too! (If disaccharide carbohydrates
mean the more refined type.)
