Looking for good diet software

I am looking for some software that I can use to track my food and exercise
plan.  I have already tried Fitday (can't print the logs easily), WW (I
would like to track my calories, not points), and eDiets (too cumbersome and
isn't very good at customizations).

Ideally this software would do the following:

Let me track my daily intake by meals.
Have some sort of food and recipe database
Allow me to add foods / recipes
Let me print the journals out
   Have some meal plan suggestions
Track exercise with the ability to add exercises and exercise plans.
Have a conduit for my PDA
Also it  would understand basic guidelines re BMI, recommended calorie
intake and do some basic weight loss graphs/reports.
I prefer a computer based rather than an internet based solution.

Any suggestions would be welcome.  I live in Canada so anything only
available in the US would not work.

Please email me at mduford@hotmail.com

Thanks
Michelle

I have recently published a program called "WeightWare"
(http://www.WeightWare.com) that you may find useful.  As the name suggests,
it focuses on weight and health tracking.  It allows you to understand your
current weight, set appropriate weight goals, and track your progress.  In
addition to weight, it also tracks other key health indicators (e.g.,
resting heart rate, blood pressure, body measurements, body fat, etc.).

For its various reports and graphs, WeightWare depends on frequent weigh-ins
(daily is best).  It uses several statistical techniques to filter out the
normal day-to-day fluctuations in weight to show you exactly how you are
progressing.  Based on your weight alone, it will show you what your daily
caloric deficit (or surplus) has been, and includes "forward-looking" graphs
to alert you when you are getting off track.

It is not, however, a menu planner or a calorie tracker.  Perhaps I'm just
lazy, but I am of the opinion that calorie counting is too time-consuming
and error prone, and only focuses on one half of the calorie deficit
equation (i.e., calories in). Recording my daily weight, however, takes less
than a minute and the feedback I get from WeightWare is sufficient
motivation for me to keep my weight under control.

If you're interested in trying it, you can download a free, fully
functional, 45-day trial version from the website and see if it meets your
needs.

I am happy that just by weighing yourself that you are able to maintain your
weight.  I unfortunately need a lot more guidance.  I did download your
program and ran through it.  It is not even close to what I am looking for.
The most important part to me would be the menu planner and calorie tracker.
For me the other parts ie: graphs and statistical analyis would only be nice
to haves and not a basic requirement.

Thank you for responding and good luck with your application.

Have you taken a look at DietPro (http://www.dietpro.net/).  I'm not
sure if that is closer to what you are looking for or not.  I just
mention it because you said that you wanted a menu planner...  They do
have a downloadable demo version so you can give it a spin to see if it
meets your needs.

I hope this helps!

I use Diet Sleuth but have a Mac. they said they were doing a program
for the PC.

Try a search and I belive it is distributed by Black Cat Systems and
costs $25.

Thanks.  I have downloaded it and it doesn't look like it has the
functionality I have been looking for.  It is also to be quite awkward to
use.  Since you like it I can only imagine the Mac version is much better.

I am currently evaluating CalorieKing and it appears to be close to what I
am looking for.

I have also looked at Dietpower but it also does not have all the
functionality I am looking for.

Thanks again for responding.

Fitday is good for PC and you can use it on mac with "virtual pc."
I am trying "fitbody.com" but they seem to be un-contactable when you
have a question or problem.  All email to them bounces.
