I leave for the U.S. tomorrow on my one month's trip to the U.S. I had been
debating between watching calories or watching carbs during the trip. The
last few weeks of watching calories (and reducing carbs to control hunger)
have been pretty successful. So I decided to try and watch calories as my
"main thing" during this trip and see if I can actually continue to lose
weight during my travels through Boston, Missouri and New Orleans...

I'm going to increase my calorie limit to 2500/day though. That should be
possible, you would think!

I may change my mind tomorrow morning before I leave and buy a bunch of
macadamia nuts and cheese cubes though. :)

In the meantime, I ordered low-calorie meals. I've ordered "diabetic meals"
before hoping to get something low carb, but they never seemed to be
low-carb at all...

I woulda asked if you needed a house-sitter, but June is by far my
least favorite month for Japan.

Cold, layer & run a bath. Hot & muggy, wear shorts & run a cool
shower. Drizzling for 6 weeks, what can you do but suffer???

Yes. Timing for this trip couldn't be better! :)

I actually do need a house sitter, because I have a dog! But one of my
friends is doing that. Poor little Tao has gone into a definite funk since
he saw me take out my suitcase...

When my previous Newfie saw the suitcases, she would get into the Bronco
and not get out until she was positive she was coming along.  We packed
around her.

Have a safe journey!

(And being on the safe side, take a bag of nuts with you anyway!)

Yes. I'm leaning back towards doing low-carb for the trip as being the
*easiest*, because there is always something to eat.

This evening I decided to splurge on calories a bit, eliminated the
high-carb tomato juice from my usual evening fish stew and used butter
instead. And a lower-carb assortment of just green vegies.

I found it greatly reduced my after-dinner hunger cravings.

Enjoy the trip.  I would have a great deal of difficulty being on a diet in
New Orleans.  That place has some very good food.  Maybe you will do enough
walking around to lose the extra calories you are going to take in.

Have fun!

funny that was what I was doing at a conference the summer of 2000 in
NO.

I was cognizant of my burgeoning waistline then, and occupied my free
time by walking all around the French Quarter. Problem was I walked
right *out* of the French Quarter, not a nice place to be late on a
weekday night, lemme tell you...
