I just did a set of pushups -- managed 18 -- my new PR :-).  (This is
from-the-toes pushups.  I think 18 is not bad for a 56-year-old woman
:-).)

I think 18 is pretty much amazing for a 56 year old woman. Congratulations.
I can only do about 14 before I have to stop for a minute, and I'm a 24 year
old man.

I'm impressed!  I'm sure 18 is beyond the reach of many people much younger
than you.

I haven't done push ups for a couple of years.  Your post got me to
wondering how many I could do so I gave it a whirl.  I could only manage 5
from the toes.  My upper body has never been my strongest area - you don't
build too many upper body muscles resting the arms on bike handlebars<g>

Five is still pretty good for a woman!  The reason I can do this many,
of course, is because I train bench press seriously, which builds the
chest and arms a lot.

I was able to do my first regular push-ups a few weeks ago and I definitely
credit bench presses and other weight training.
