Well with everything that has been going on Dr's appt etc etc
generally recovering from the ops, the preparation for going back into
hospital next week (radiotherapie) my weight has been fluctuating up
and down, but basically staying within the same 1 to 2 kg. The bad
news is at the pre radiotherapie checks they told me some people put
on up to 10kg in the 3 months before they can start the proper Thyroid
hormones, mainly water but :-(. I haven't come this far to put the
weight back on. I am doing ok on the diet side as I am on a low iodine
diet to prepare for next week, that limits butter marg milk products
choc bread. Most veg and fruit ok as with some meat. The thing I
really miss though is fish and seafood (not allowed until mid Sept 04
at the earliest may be longer). I also cant have soya produce beans
peas etc. I am pretty tired so doing next to no exercise, I do try to
walk a bit each day, the weather has been lousy though. After the
tests at the hospital on Tuesday and Wednesday I needed cheering up so
I went shopping for new neck scarfs(need to wear these for 6 months)
and I found a couple of great diet cookbooks each with 200+ recipes so
loads of inspiration. And a novel the follow up to Bridgit Jone's
diary, sound very funny. A very good friend of mine from Australia
sent me a large box of 9 packets of chocolate cookies. Had 4 today,
really needed to stop after 2 they are 100 cal a pop! No newsgroup
access after Monday until I come home. I will report in then. Take
care everyone and keep on losing.

Michelle,
Better late than never (just catching up here)...
Good to hear your spirits seem to be up. Just take it one day at a time and
you'll make it through this. We're all behind you!
A couple of good book recommendations if you haven't read them already as
they've been out a while are Atonement by Ian McEwen and Tara Road by Maeve
Binchy. I've been on a nonfiction kick (mostly political) for the last year
or so and as a result I'm not up to date on the current bestsellers, though
I did read the DaVinci Code (Dan Brown) and the Last Juror (John Grisham)
and liked them too.

Thanks Chris, seeing how you have lost weight inspite of being
hypothyroid has helped keep me motivated.

Thanks for the update, Michelle.
Don't worry about a few pounds gained during this time. Once you get on
the thyroid medication you should see them melt away. I had a thyroid
problem when I was younger and once the medication was started I was able
to drop the 30+ pounds I gained. Just take care of yourself.
Hang in there!
