Tonight it was raining when I came home from work.   FL is beginning its
evening t-storm season.   These storms can be very severe at times, with
hail and tornados, but the lightening is always the most dangerous.
Actually, the area I live in is the lightening capital of the US.   So,
biking to the gym was out.

DH was home, so I asked if he wanted to join me in going to the gym.   I
told him my plans - 30 min cardio, then weight workout (generally about
35mins) followed w/ 30 min cardio again.   Just as if I'd gone by bike.

Well, at 6:30 I get ready to leave.   He tells me he doesn't want to go then
because "the gym is busiest on Monday's and its still during peak time"...
so I say we'll leave at 7.   Well, its 7:20 before we actually leave and
he's questioning me if I still plan my cardio and the 1.5 hr workout.   YES!

So, we go, and I do my thing.   He does his, but you can tell he's "bored".

By the time we get home its nearly 9pm, and as we are driving home he
complains that 9pm is later than he'd wanted to get home.   Well - I'm so
fricken sorry that you didn't want to leave at 6:30 when i wanted to.

So, from now on, I'll go to the gym alone.   Thankyouverymuch!

On the plus side - I feel great from my workout.   I tried out a new
elliptical they have at the gym, its called the "ArcTrainer" and is really
interesting.  You can change the settings where its more like a stair master
or the setting can be more like a sky machine.   So you can adjust the
incline and the resistance.  Pretty cool and fun.   And low impact on the
knee.   There is also another new treadmill that has a wicked incline
setting.   I will have to give that a try to see how the knee takes hill
climbing.

Just curious...do you spend this same amount of time every day?

No, just about 3 days a week on that.    What I really enjoy doing is riding
my bike to the gym and back.   Its 4.5 miles from the house and when I can,
I'll ride the roundabout way and actually make it about 6.5 - 8 miles or so.
But that depends on time and my mood.   I always come back the most direct
way.    It works out to be about 20 - 25 mins of cardio both ways.   And
since I enjoy biking, it doesn't feel like a workout.

Sorry he was a pain about it...

George and I rarely go together... for one thing, he has to go at
widely varying times, because of his schedule shifting. For instance,
this week, he's on swing shift... so he goes around 2 PM. On graveyard
shift, he goes around 8:30 AM. On day shift, he hits the gym around 5
PM. Every once in a while, we overlap.

Me, I just go when I'm ready... yesterday was my first workout since
my drive to Chicago and back. Man am I sore! I couldn't get there
until 6 PM... finished up breakfast for us at 2PM, then had to clean
up and fix a soup for the crockpot and do my walk.

But it felt good.

I have been trying the regular elliptical machine at our gym bit by
bit. I don't last long on it though. It does seem to be a bit hard on
my knees, but mostly, I am just out of shape!

Hopefully, I'll last a little longer on it each time I try.

I just got a Nordic Track elliptical because I don't like the one they have
at my gym.  I like the NT because it has an incline control.  Plus, having
my own saves me a trip to a second fitness center and lets me work out at 5
AM regardless of weather and light conditions. :)

I have a Nordic Track ski machine... I really like it actually... it's
very easy on my knees and ankles. It's not set up yet, but later,
after I finish up work on painting the living room, I may set it up in
there for a while. My only worry is that since our airconditioner is
not working, that it will just be too dang hot to use it.
