Hi All. First time visitor, first time poster. I've been on Slimfast
5 and a half days and have lost 4-5 pounds already. Woo-hoo! :)
I'm pretty excited about it. One thing concerns me though. I started
Sunday afternoon. On about day 3 I started to feel very weak.
Tuesday I had a very mild fever (99.1), a splitting headache and I
stayed home from work Wednesday because I was so tired. I slept from
Tuesday night straight through to Thursday morning! I woke up around
12:30 for a slimfast bar and an apple, and again around 6 for a
sensible for a very light dinner that I didn't really have an appetite
for. I probably could've used the extra sleep even before Slimfast
but I never felt so tired in my entire life. I was worrying I was
catching mono or something. I'm wondering if Slimfast is contributing
to this extreme fatigue. I'm better now. By Thursday morning I was
feeling better. Somebody said I wasn't drinking enough water. As
part of this diet I've also cold turkey quit my 4-6 cans of Pepsi a
day and someone else suggested that what I could be experiencing is
caffeine withdrawal. Any help from anyone that's experienced similar
symptoms from either Slimfast or c.w.?
Thanks,
Seth

I am not sure what exactly befell you on Tuesday and Wednesday, could
be some interesting illness having nothing to do with dieting.
*If* it is related to dieting:
What you are experiencing is not a sign of a healthy diet leading to
sustainable weight loss and feeling well.
Can you, instead of this "slimfast diet", actually eat good clean
food, in a measured quantity, with limited calories, with emphasis on
getting good nutrients within your portion limit. Try to eat not too
processed food, however vague it sounds. Also limit your sugar and
also starches to some extent. Aim to lose a couple of pounds per
week.
The above mentioned diet works for numerous people, unlike radical
crash diets and slimfats diets and such.

This post seems so extreme and self-evident that makes we wonder whether you are
sincere. So what if you've lost 4-5 lbs (probably only water anyway) if you are
sacrificing your good health? A good food plan is supposed to make you feel good, not
so bad that you call off work -- can't you see the answer within your own post? Get
off the sugar-laden crap and eat real food (fruits, vegetables, lean meats, etc.)
regularly throughout the day. Good idea on ditching the Pepsi. Can you imagine taking
a 12-oz mug of coffee and adding 12 to 16 teaspoons of sugar to it? And then drinking
that 4 to 6 times a day? That's exactly what you were doing with your Pepsi.

Well, like the others said, that should prove you're doing something wrong.
You can't be healthy without exercise so start an exercise program and start
learning to eat right.
OBTW didn't you read the can? Slimfast is full of sugar. Are you sure
you're not reacting to that? Get to your doctor and tell her/im what
happened.

hold on there tex. Do you want to lose muscle or fat? Your current
trend will result in a wrecked metabolism and lost muscle.
Shoot to lose 2lbs/week max. Most diet experts recommend 1lb/week, but
for guys 3lbs/week is the absolute max, so I just shoot for 2.
Your body needs energy, and the sugar crap they put in Slimfast isn't
the right kind of energy -- it spikes your insulin and causes crashes,
fatigue, and a general shitty feeling.
To lose 2lbs/week you need to under-eat by 1000kcal/day. Depending on
your weight, this will be anything from 1500kcal/day to 3000kcal/day
(or even more if your super heavy).
For optimal, sustained loss, and to better your chances of keeping it
off, combine a slight caloric deficit with a steady but varied
exercise program. You should be looking at eventually increasing your
muscle mass by weight training if you have a lot to lose, since all
weight loss regimens will take off muscle too -- the body prefers
catabolizing muscle over fat, and when you starve yourself, either by
not eating enough protein & fat, or using crap like Slimfast, you will
lose a LOT of muscle.
back up & try again.
