i posted before about saddlebags (126/5'7). i just can't stand them anymore--
from the front view, i think i look pretty good in the thigh area, but from the
back i think i look awful. i am very happy with my lower legs and upper body
and to be quite honest, i'm not worried about bathing suits (although i'm
obviously thinking about that area; i want to look good in a suit, of course).
i'm more worried about how my butt looks in pants: not so good imo.

so if i cut back on calories and fat and jog/walk for 30-40 minutes almost
every day, and then do some thigh exercises and the daily crunches i already
do, will those saddlebags decrease even just a little? or is it really just
about genes? today i ended up eating half a box of annie's mac and cheese,
which isn't too bad (since the box is split in half) but just has a lot of
those simple carbs that aren't so good. for dinner i ate a mixed greens and
tomato salad with feta cheese, and then a slice of ezekiel bread with a piece
of deli american cheese on it. later on i'll probably have a light snack. i
only had half a serving of oatmeal for breakfast (1/3 of a cup probably)
because i didn't have time to finish it. do you think i should have more
calories?

it is summer vacation, but when i go back to college i won't be eating fatty
cafeteria food because i'll be off the meal plan and buying my own groceries.
my apartment also requires long walks up hills to class/campus probably more
than once a day (anyone who has ever gone to cornell knows our campus and the
area around--it's brutal but conducive to tight calves, and hopefully some
thinning in other areas). i really dislike weight lifting, so i'm hoping that's
not the only way. maybe some ankle weights would help.

Cutting back on fat and replacing those calories with fruit and veg are a
good idea, and the exercise is a terrific idea.  Do that first before you
worry about total calorie count, and check back in a couple of months.

Hi Sarandipidy,

Your weight is fine, you may just need to shape up a bit.  Yes aerobic
exercise will help you lose fat from everywhere in your body.  Weight
training may also help you convert fat into muscle, so work on your
largest muscles - your legs. Beware of BDD - body dismorphic disorder
- where you're unhappy and think you look fat no matter how thin you
actually are.  Most women would kill to be 126/5'7".
