When I moved from Hayward to San Lorenzo a couple years ago, had NO
ROOM to set up and operate my Nordic Track skier. Sadly, it went into
storage, with a lot of other stuff that didn't fit my new space.

Well, I moved it to ND... but just like before, for a good long while,
the living room was full of moving boxes and no room to set up.
Eventually, got the living room mostly cleared out, but just did
nothing about it.

But the other day, I drug it out, set it up in the middle of the
living room, for now, and cleaned it up, oiled it, and polished it.
Got on it too! But only for a couple minutes at a time, it was really
making me out of breath!

Then I went and found the box I'd stashed the computer in, got
batteries for that, and re-mounted it on the machine. Found the
instructions, set it up for my weight, age, etc.

I found that as usual, I don't like using my Nike Walking shoes on the
skier, they feel too large and clunky on the skis. So off to Wal-Mart
for some cheap $3 Ked sneaker facsimiles.

And now I'm tracking again!

I managed 8 minutes Saturday, today I did 12 minutes/1 mile. But I
admit to huffing and puffing quite a bit. Nor can I use the arm
exerciser the whole time. I sort of alternate by doing that, then
catching my breath, then adding arms for a minutes, etc...

One thing I will need to do, is arrange for some way to attach a water
bottle. I was dying for a sip or two of water. I'm thinking maybe I
could get a bike water cage and screw it onto the hip pad. If I'm
lucky, it might work.

At any rate, on that eventual day when we have furniture, i.e. a sofa,
I'm not quite sure where it will go, but for now I have my track back!

As exercise machines go, it's gotta be the perfect one for me, low
impact and easy on knees. And I can *do* it.

But I've lost my clothes drying rack... <G>

Well done Cynthia - keep on tracking!!

WTG Cynthia.  It won't take long to get back in shape.  I find if I take a
couple weeks off from exercise I do the huffing and puffing the first few
days, too.

Shower curtain rods make wonderful drying racks<g>  I throw all my clothes I
don't want to run through the dryer onto plastic hangers and hang on mine.

Well, walking just isn't all that aerobic for me. It does burn
calories and is a good exercise, and I will continue doing it, but I
*can't* walk fast enough to really get my heart rate going.

If I do, I am very quickly in pain from my shins and the next day, my
ankles/feet are all crippled up from too much impact.

So the skier is ideal.

You haven't seen our basement rigged up shower... I wouldn't put
clothes on it if you paid me. a) it might fall down and b) basement
spiders might take a liking to it or c) the rickety thing might fall
down.

As is, our dryer just quit working. Ugh. Yet another thing to tell the
landlady about.

Yay Cynthia!  I could never do my sister's Nordic Track without it
hurting my back.  We all have different things we can do.  Whatever
works, right?

I went to a yard sale once where an exercise bike was marked very
cheaply.  I looked at the gal and asked "But where will you hang your
clothes?" and her DH nearly collapsed in laughter. <g>

Yep. Sometimes the NT bothers my ankles a bit, but no worse than
walking does. Pretty much everything bothers my ankles, I just do what
I can and ease up if they go bad.

I don't know why exercise machines are so handy as places to hang
stuff, they just are. You'd think the manufacturers would catch on and
provide extra hanging space. <G>

My beloved treadmill has nothing hanging on it but a towel to wipe the
sweat off me! (and I have no plans to use it until winter)

My treadmill sits in the spare bedroom and nothing gets on it except me and
the cat.  She likes to lay on it and sun herself<g>

Hee hee!

My cat is very suspicious of the Nordic Track... doesn't like the look
of those skis going back and forth. He gives the contraption a wide
berth.
