I know BMI isn't that accurate a measurement for everyone, but since I
first came to accept that I was indeed borderline obese by seeing my
BMI listed in the paper at over 30, which put me into the 'obese'
category for the story's accompanying chart, I figured it would be
fitting to update everyone that I've officially crossed out of the
"overweight" category into the "normal" range today.

For most of the 90's (where I floated up from 175 in college to ~200
over 10 years) I didn't have a scale, so AFAIK this is the lightest
I've been since maybe 1997 or so. I can't say 'thinnest', though,
since the 34" pants I wore at that time still feel just a bit tighter
now. But I can wear them again!

Since my loss goal is to fit into my college 501s, and a pair of 33"
501s I bought 10 years ago in the then-forlorn hope that I could
reverse the ~10lb gain I had at that time, I think it's going to take
maybe another 10lbs of loss. But I'm already down 40+ lbs, so even
though the last 10 are the hardest, I will just keep plugging away at
it.

As a dieting tool, I've found tracking my BMI crossing to be a fun
little incentive, 3 or 4 mileposts on the road. You may have noticed
that I do this a lot, with 10lb increments, and also % progress.
Nothing like crossing big 25%, 33%, 50%, 66%, and 75% milestones to
keep you focused on the grind... in 5 1/2 months I've had 6 BMI
milestones, the above 5 percentage milestones, and of course the 4
10lb milestones. That's better than a milestone every two weeks!

Sorry to make everyone jealous, but I dropped from a BMI of 34 to 22 in 18
months ... using a very simple diet drug. It's chemical formula? H2O.

I am glad it was not CH2COOH!

Congratulations, you must look great by now. Take a lot of pictures,
even if you don't want to post them here.
