I have unsuccessfully been trying to lose weight for a few years now;
25 to 30 pounds, to be exact.  Below is what I have been eating for
the last several days.  What do you think about the way I eat?
Thanks for your help.
Day 1:
2 Fried Eggs
3 Coffees
1 Cheese burger and French Fries
1 Coffee
2 Chocolate Donuts
1 Small Peace of Chocolate
3 Pieces of Pizza
2 Bowels of cereal right before I go to bed.

Day 2:
3 Bowls of Life Cereal before Bed
4 Small hot dog snacks
1 Pop corn
2 Ice creams
5 Cookies
1 Big bowl of Macaroni
1 Clondike bar

I know I have a problem of eating. I want to know how to get this
under control.  A lot of it is emotional eating.  I want to stop
smoking, but I fear gainging weight. And since I eat for emotional
reasons I don't know how I will be able to eat right after I give up
the smokes.
How can I fix my problem?
Thanks

I hope that the bowels were well cleaned before you ate
them. Otherwise you could contract E.Coli.

Try this instead of Day 2:

> 2 Bowls of Life Cereal before Bed
> 3 Small hot dog snacks
[quoted text clipped - 3 lines]
> 1 Big bowl of Macaroni
> 5 tomatoes in a salad with 1 tbsp olive oil

You have a history of making very odd posts to various newsgroups,
asking for help but acting like you don't want to do anything. What's
up with that.

Looks good. It's summer, so I'd up the ice cream a bit maybe.

I really can't help you much here, I'm afraid, other than by saying
"don't eat crap".

for free advice, this book:

http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/www/hackdiet.html

helped me get a handle on what a weight-loss program should look like.

Eat less to maintain a daily calorie deficit, exercise more (but not
too much) to keep up your resting metabolism, stick to the plan over
the long-haul -- make it a permanent commitment not a chinese fire
drill or short-term crisis response.

Go for a gradual loss, shoot for no more than 2lbs/week loss --
1lb/week being even better for you.

Plan your meals and don't snack on crap between them -- your body
counts every calorie even if you don't.

Eat to fuel your body, not to make you feel good or happy. There is
greater happiness in being thinner.

Enjoy life though. The big trick for me is not denying what I want,
but just wanting healthy stuff in the first place. It's a fundamental,
life-changing choice that changes a lot of behavior as a 2nd-order
effect.

You could easily be at your goal weight by the end of the year if you
just put your heart fully into it. Really, eating well is easier than
eating badly if you plan a bit.

Milk, Cheerios, protein powder, almonds, tomatoes, fruit, cheese, and
lean meats are about 90% of my diet now. Cutting out all the crap
makes food choices easier, at least most of the time.

It's gross and unhealthy.  Please study the Harvard Nutrition website:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/  Some of the grossest
foods: hot dogs - alos only eat eggs in moderation.  To some extent,
you really are what you eat.

You're missing the cheesecake, cream puffs, and family size bags of
doritos.
