Tying a knot

I gained weight this year and I'm really mad at myself.  So I'm pumping up
the workout and trying not to shoot myself in the foot like I usually do.
When I exercise more, I get hungrier and usually I let myself eat.  NOT THIS
TIME.

To make things worse I've been hallucinating pizzas all afternoon.

Sigh.  Tying a knot and hanging in there.

Weight maintenance and struggles often go together. I am confident in
your willpower, but perhaps you could reconsider your lowfatting. What
are your hunger patterns like? Are you hungry all the time, or in the
afternoon, or what?

Hi Pat,

Eat lots of fruit and veggies when you get hungry.  You will lose if you
burn more than you take in.

Hang in there, Patricia! My nutritionist has suggested to me that I snack on protein
when hungry, and that seems to work for me without causing a craving - eating -
weight gain cycle. You have all the tools you need, and I know you can succeed at
nipping your weight gain in the bud. I am in the same boat!

Thanks.  This morning I actually got on the scale and I think it is working
so far.
My biggest problems are underestimating how many portions are in what I eat,
and the fact that I hate exercising.   Let's do this!!

Yes, let's! :-) Great to see that things are working for you. I get very irritated at
times with counting portions and measuring when necessary, and for me, it often is
just old-fashioned rebellion and stubbornness. So I have to switch it around and say
"what am I *willing* to do" -- so that it doesn't seem like something that's being
forced on me. Then I build on that willingness to do one thing to gradually add other
healthy habits. As for the exercise, my favorite part is when it's over -- so I can
relate there -- I do get at least an hour in every day. And with my new bike, the
monotony of walking has now been replaced by the excitement of conquering something
new that I would have never been able to do at 325 or even 225 lbs. -- so is there
any new thing you think you might like -- rollerblading, etc. -- something with more
of a "fun" factor? Just my thoughts. I know you and I both can keep that weight from
creeping up again!

Large glass of water.  Now.  That does help.....
