I dunno, I would go with the doctor's suggestions, if I were in your
position. Losing 9 kg (13% of body weight) after a surgery like this
is a big deal, especially since weight loss and thyroid function are
related, so a doctor may know something that you don't. Maybe ask him
why he thinks you should not lose weight. See if he has anything
worthwhile to say. Perhaps he would agree to suggest to postpone your
weight loss by a few months, to see if there is any new disease, and
to proceed with it if there is no new disease?
To those who might pop up here saying that "ignoranus is dispensing
medical advice", this is not medical advice, but common sense based
advice. This was a suggestion to follow a doctor's advice after a
complex medical situation. This is not a run of the mill dieter
situation. One has to tread carefully.
