Chris Braun - 06 Aug 2004 04:36 GMT >> 12:00: brisk 2 mile walk (very hot today) > >do you enjoy walking in hot weather? > >i Well, it's so chilly in my office that it always feels good when I get outdoors. And I like the feel of the sun on my body. But when the humidity and temperature are both in the 90s, like they were yesterday, it gets to be a bit much after a while. Ted, my walking companion, is heavier and it's a bit harder on him, so we tend to take a shorter route when it's very hot. (I change into shorts, sports bra, and tank top before we walk. It would be too hot to walk in my work clothes and I would be too sweaty afterward. Also, some of my clothes aren't suitable for it even when it's not hot -- like straight skirts that limit my stride or pants that touch the ground when I put on my walking shoes instead of wearing heels. )
Today was very cool, though rather rainy right at lunchtime, but I had a lunch date with a friend and meetings either side of lunch so we couldn't get away for a walk today. Too bad; it would have been a nice change. We actually like walking in a light rain.

Sweating makes me feel better physically.
I wish for more hot weather. So far, we had only one hot day with weather in the 90 degrees.

Sometimes I go in the hot tub, then the sauna, then the steam room, with cold showers in between :-).
Do you think one sweats more in a sauna or a steam room? Ahmed says the sauna, but I can't tell, since it's so wet in the steam room.

I tend to agree with Ahmed here. I just do not see as much sweat, since it evaporates.
Even though `I have no access to a sauna, I have a nice spa at home, which I am actually using. It is in the sunroom.

The only thing I miss about NJ is my hot tub. It was in the back yard and I used it every night after I got home from working 2nd shift. I got to watch an eclipse of the moon once. The soak always made me sleep like a baby. (and yet, I *never* take baths)

I throw in loads of bath oil and soak until I look like a prune<g>

Sometimes I go in the hot tub, then the sauna, then >the steam room, with cold showers in between :-). This is what they recommend at the place we go to in France. But I have to be careful, as the sauna and steam room make me too relaxed, so I can't skate - I don't do that if I'm skating next day.
>Do you think one sweats more in a sauna or a steam room? Ahmed says >the sauna, but I can't tell, since it's so wet in the steam room. I think steam room, myself, but I could be wrong - look how one sweats more in very humid weather. Like here - we are living in a steam room at the moment.... sigh.... at least one doesn't get quite so hungry!
