It's working.... I'm keeping my calorie intake to an average of
1600-1800/day and getting some exercise. I haven't settled into a
routine yet but it's only my first week so I'm trying not to overdue
it. I feel better already and the scale is showing a loss although
you never know how much is water, etc.
I joined Curves last Wednesday, have worked out there twice and
finally got back on my treadmill yesterday - felt good to dust it off.
Fitday.com has been a big help too.
Here's to Week 2!

Congratulations Amy! You're off to a good start.
How do you like Curves? I was a member for a year before switching to a
regular gym closer to home.

So far, so good with Curves. I like the interaction and the 30 minute
routine... only 5 minutes from my house so that's a bonus too! I
don't dread going there like I used to with the big gym - seemed very
alone there.
Thank you all for the encouraging words!

Great job! Now, it is important to keep going, day after day, etc.

I know the first week's loss is mainly water, etc, but isn't it kind of
Nature to cause our bodies to have this reaction - so encouraging!

Week 2 Weigh in!
214 this morning - I've been a little lower throughout the week but am
happy to settle at a 2 lb loss for the week. I'm working on getting
better use of the food groups. The biggest change has been in
bringing my lunch every day but Friday. I'm completely controlling
calorie intake by having no other food available. I have had to visit
the store downstairs twice but only choose light yogurt so not a big
deal, still within my ranges.
Went over my 1600-1800 goal a lot one day and a little another day but
was a little under it two other days. All in all, I feel good - still
need to get my workout routine under control - did 3, planned on 4.
Go Week 3 :)

Wonderful job, Amy! You are doing terrific with the changes you're making. Gradual
changes lead to permanent changes which lead to permanent weight loss!

Good for you! I found that bringing my lunch every day
was one of the best things I could do for myself. And I
made a vow to myself that if I wanted to eat out, I had
to walk to get it--and the closest take out is 10
minutes away.
Keep up the good work, Amy.

Same here, I always take my lunch with me, and that allows me to eat
whatever I want, exactly as much as I feel is proper, and go home
earlier. :)

excellent. 2lbs/week seems slow compared to the Turbo Hype Diets, but
you're in a marathon not a sprint, and the best way to get there is
not undereat more than 1000 kcal/day, which is that 2lb/week loss
rate.
2lbs/week is somewhere between a quarter and a third of a pound per
day, quite a bit of burned fat when you think about it. At this rate,
you should be approaching goal in under 40 weeks.
sounds like a long time to some, but you'll be halfway there in 20
weeks, and 1/3 the way there in 13 (just avoid the halloween candy!)
