I've been participating here on asd for a year today. That means I've
been maintaining my weight for 18 months now.
I love reading menu posts, exercise routines and all the recipes.
I've learned a lot from each of you. I wouldn't have dreamed of lifting
weights without Chris and Dally making it sound cool. Beverly and jmk
finally got me over my fear of bike riding on the narrow roads here.
Perple and Jenn's search for answers and openness to new directions helps
me not get rigid about *my* way. Meeting Amy IRL was great fun and I'd
like to get together with more of you. Diva and Mary M and Barbara
Hirsh continue to inspire by simply keeping on. JayJay's no-nonsense
posts are honest and always real. Even Igor's fretting over the
difficulties of keeping off his weight makes me grateful for my easier
temperament. Beeswing, Tonia, Elly, Julianne, Janice, Ally, Susan and
Kasey - I hate to leave anybody out - you're all amazing!
My weight fluctuates between 110 and 113 and I try not to let it bug me.
My legs have reshaped themselves since I started bike riding, maybe it's
muscle! lol Chris' goal range seems more sane. What's important is that
all my size *four* clothes (and the size 2 Old Navy khakis <g>) fit me
and I feel wonderful. For the first time in my life I consider myself to
be a healthy, active, athletic person and I really like that. I
celebrated today by doing my oldest and newest forms of exercise.
Pilates this morning, 18 mile bike ride after lunch and a glorious 3 mile
walk with my tunes humming in my ear after supper. I'm happy.
So I lift my glass of water to salute you all. This is a cool place.
I'm staying.

Congratulations and it's been a pleasure reading your posts over the past
year. I look forward to many more of them.
I might add that after reading your posts about recipes and cooking I'm
beginning to do a little more cooking at home than I have in the past.
Before you think I've turned into Betty Crocker let me clarify the cooking
is for items I take in my lunch. I still eat most evening meals out<g>

That's great Beverly! I do love eating out - that's when I can get
special foods I don't cook myself, like grilled tuna or salmon. But
knowing I can put healthy foods together with different seasonings and
condiments and have something yummy is very pleasurable for me.
In Maine, you know people like you when they let you visit in their
kitchen <s>

Thanks Jenn. We're going snowshoeing this winter!!! (even if I have to put
a snow machine on the berrygrounds out back ;-)

I just got the trail maps and prices for downhill skiing for this winter -
easier on the tailbone than XC skiing. It will probably be a long winter
this year up here since we've already had frost all week (overnight temps
around 35). I predict it will start snowing next month which means I could
be snowshoeing by Thanksgiving.

Amazing success Snugbear, congratulations. You are definitely an
inspiration for me. Also, I am no longer having "difficulties"
maintaining, since about a month ago, although we'll see if the new
method actually works, there has not been enough time. Glad that we
both agree on importance of walking.

Thanks, Ig. I'm glad you're happier about your WOE now.
I learned something yesterday. Since I got my bike I've been riding for
exercise almost exclusively because it seems I don't have to spend as
much time at it. But when I went out to walk in that sweet summer
evening yesterday I realized I *miss* it. Walking is good for my head as
much as my body. My walking buddy will be back from vacation Monday and
we'll be back to our routine.
I promise to keep walking <s>

I think that once our bodies get accustomed to a certain amount of
exercise, we do miss it. And walking is easy, cheap, safe and I'm
looking forward to some decent walks in the country next weekend!

Happy anniversary Laurie. I always enjoy reading you here and hearing
about your progress with maintenance and your onward journey into
fitness - including the change of activity that's caused you to change
your sig line recently.
I'm glad you're planning to stay with us here.

Aww, janice - the wonderful thing about this box o'rocks is that now it's
so easy to have friends all over the world. I was delighted by how
friendly and helpful everyone was when I visited your country. If I ever
get back there, I now *know* someone I can walk with!
You're all like family - including odd cousins and *funny* uncles <g>
