Most of us have had stress-triggered eating.  How many of you have stress
related NOT eating?  I had a very stressful episode this morning that wiped
me out for the entire day - never felt hungry at all, just nauseous and had
a headache.  When I finally forced myself to eat, it didn't agree with me
and I got sick.  Should I force myself to eat, or just let it ride?

Hi det, sorry you are having trouble. Hoping that it will pass. Do not
force yourself to eat.

Oh, yeah - I have those days.   And, there's no need to force yourself to
eat.   Try to get fluids down, but your body will catch up with the food
once you settle down.

I'll email ya later.

Let it ride for a day and don't force yourself to eat, but if it lasts then
do try to eat something bland, maybe a small amount.  Either that or try a
meal replacement shake or something if you do those.  The most important
thing is to stay hydrated.  Hope you feel better soon.

I wouldn't force yourself to eat, especially large amounts or something
heavy. If you fee like you "need" something, try something bland like
scrambled eggs. There are people who deal with stress by not eating/not
sleeping.  I know people like this.

From a person experience...I have yet to go through anything that stopped me
from eating. I've been through some pretty nasty crap, and never missed a
meal.  I always sort of wished I were the type that could, but I get so
jittery and shaky if I don't eat regularly.   During times of great stress,
I can and have eaten everything that jumped in my way.

Don't force yourself, it will most likely pass in day or two.  Make sure you
drink enough water, and try to get some simple easily digested proteins to
keep your strength up.  I hope whatever is going on in your life gets better
soon.

140/135/??? it used to be 120, but that was when I wasn't weight lifting and
exercising regularly. I feel better right now at 135 than I ever felt at
120.

I do.

I can't say what the "right" thing to do is, but personally I eat what the
amount my body wants on a stressed-out day. If I'm more hungry the next day,
I'll eat a tad more, maybe make up for it. I never force myself to eat; I
listen to (my mind) and my body.

When one of my inlaws died, I ate very, very little for about a week while I
was back East to attend the funeral. If you look at the big picture, it really
didn't matter. I go with how I feel, not what I "think I ought to do."

YMMV. Best wishes.......

At one point in my life I did. Things were the worst ever. Unfortunately, it
lead to terrible eating habits, when I did eat. It also propelled anorexia
and I was underweight.

As long as it's a short term relatively rare occurence, I wouldn'r worry too
much. If it is longer lasting, then it'll time to take action.

Sorry - can't work out who asked this....

The last two days - I had it in spades. My best friend's husband was admitted
to hospital with a mental disorder related to his depression (against his will,
taken by the police after threatening members of his Doctor's team).

He is now locked in a secure ward and refusing to co-operate with the Doctors
there. But - he IS now talking to my friend (his wife) and she says they have
talked more in the last two days than for years. Now all we have to do is
figure out how to get him out of there :)

So - the last two days I have slept about 5 hours, driven nearly 400 miles on
errands and dropping off friend's daughter at her grandparents. I have eaten
about 1 meal's worth of food and drunk enough black coffee to float a small
ship. My digestion must have shut down some because I just haven't wanted food.
Today is calmer and I am back on fruit to start with.

Not a WOE I would recommend - but I have lost another two pounds.....sheesh.

Here's hoping you can get your friend's husband home soon.  As you said
this is no way to lose weight.

Sorry to hear that.  If you're nauseous don't force food.  You might
be catching something.  Stress sometimes can cause immune system
weakness - making you more likely to get sick.  For me, I handle
stress best by walking.

I would let it ride.  When you eventually get your appetite back, then just
start eating more.  Have you tried to exercise to help reduce the stress??

About 2 to 3 weeks ago I had a very stressful period in my life, and
experienced not eatinf for the first time ever. It was awful, not
eating feeling sick all the time and headaches from not sleeping. I
tried to force my self to eat, just a little several times a day, it
seemed to help, unfortunately my choices were not good. In 3 days I
lost more than 2 kg, but geiningmost of it back. If it ever happens
again, I think I would concentrated on drinking enough water and
eating light easily digestable foods, may be soups.
Hope your stress doesn't last long, take care of yourself
