This is a part rant, part just being fashionably challenged.

I went shopping over the weekend and bought 2 pairs of pants.  In the store
they were a tad bit tight in the thighs, but I bought them anyway.   Well, I
wore one pair today, and although tight to begin with they are made of
stretchy material and fit comfotably in the rest of the body except the
thighs.   But - here's the thing, by the end of the day i had a few people
ask me if I'd lost weight.  They'd stretched to the point they looked baggy.

Then tonight I was at Old Navy and decided "what the hey" I'll try on some
low rise geans.  I tried 2 pairs on, the first was stretchy and fit the same
way the above pants did in the store.  The seconde were not stretching and
were wicked tight in the thighs.   The thing is - being "low rise" they were
still too big in the waist/hips.

So - my "rant" is - I STILL HATE MY THIGHS!!!  damned things just get in the
way with clothing.

The other part is - WTF is this, should I continue buying things that are
too tight in the store and anticipate them being too big as the stretch out
from being worn during the day?   I mean, knowing how these pants fit at the
end of the day, I could have gone another size smaller to have then not look
so baggy on my at the end of the day.

Annoying, isn't it? I haven't solved this problem either... (although,
for me, it's the tummy, not the legs, that's the issue)

I vacillate between two choices... buying baggier pants that feel &
look good on first wear, but look bulky and unflattering the second
time... or buying skinny pants that i have to wear for a day to "break
in" after everytime i wash them*

so, me prepping for a date is usially me staring at a pair of pants
trying to remember which kind they were, and whether i've worn them
yet.

* yeah, i know, i could just wear them once and then wash them. what
can i say? old college habits die hard.  and i *hate* laundry.

I have the same problem, Megan.  I have skinny legs and a notably absent
butt but my waist is large.  Recently, I have taken to buying low rise
jeans.  I do not have the abdomen to wear them with the cute little crop
tops but they do fit better with a slender fitted shirt that extends below
the waist band of the pants.

I've got the opposite - in that in the tigher pants, they flatten the
flab in my butt.  :)

Oh, I do wash mine regularly.   My problem yesterday was that by the
end of 1 wearing they were so loose they were baggy.

It is the cotton and lycra.... jeans that I own like made from that do the
same thing.

I would live in low rise pants if I could! My abs are better and the fat is
slowly shrinking as well. When I wear my babydoll t-shirts, I am starting to
get compliments about how great I look. It's great, even though I'm not used
to it yet.

I have the same problem with Old Navy.  Tight in the thighs, too loose
everywhere else.  The picture I put up today, those are Old Navy jeans and
they're literally falling off of my butt yet still plastered to the thighs.

I don't know what to do either because I have the same problem.  I just
don't think I'm losing weight *that* fast that things would fit in the store
and not when I get home.  I find that "stretch" just keeps stretching all
day long so I'm going to avoid that from now on.

My new Lee riders still fit pretty well and true to when I tried them on and
they get through the day.  Thing is, I realy like low rise stuff now that
I'm used to it and pants that go to my true waist are beginning to feel
uncomfortable.  I'm not buying another article of clothing until after
X-mas, except for something fabulous and tight to wear to the parties I'll
be attending for the holidays.
