Ok update it's been another month and I'm down another 10pounds to 140
from 205/150. I'd consider myself fairly thin now. This cereal diet
works GREAT. In fact, I omit the protein shake now since the cereal
and milk give enough. Total cost < $10 a week for food and you can
buy everything at Costco! Losing weight and feeling great. Not
hungry at all since the cereal fills you up. I have to emphasize the
easy to follow part. I.e. no fancy or time consuming food
preparation. I cut back on the exercise to an hour 3x a week since I
had to do some other tasks. Remember you get all the fiber, protein,
calcium and vitamins you need so you don't go sick or hungry. You
basically can go on this diet forever with the occasional food
splurges which is what I intend to do. You don't understand how much
time/money/weight you save until you actually tried it for a few
months!
Now I eat:
Eat everyday:
Breakfast 8am
Multivitamin
30 grams Cereal
250 grams skim milk
Snack 10am
20 grams Cereal
250 grams skim milk
Lunch
30 grams Cereal
250 grams skim milk
Snack 4pm
20 grams Cereal
250 grams skim milk
Dinner 6pm
30 grams Cereal
250 grams skim milk
Snack 8pm
Multivitamin
20 grams Cereal
250 grams skim milk
I also have 2 days a week when I eat junk food like two slices of
pizza for a meal (since it's free at work) but don't do this until
you've reached your ideal weight.

Ok I thought I'd share my success. I was 5'6, 205 pounds Male. Now
I'm 150 after 2 months on this diet. Unlike other diets, this diet is
easy to follow and cheap while still giving you all the
vitamins/nutrients you need.
Buy:
Good Friends Kashi Cereal (UPC 018627025658 Costco)
Skim Milk (Costco)
premium Multivitamin with Herbs (Costco #246089)
Carb Solutions High Protein Shake Mix (UPC 73924900046 at walmart)
Eat everyday:
Breakfast 8am
Multivitamin
30 grams Cereal (8 grams fiber)
250 grams skim milk
Snack 10am
1 scoop carb solutions and water (60 calories 10.5 grams protein)
Lunch
30 grams Cereal (8 grams fiber)
250 grams skim milk
Snack 4pm
1 scoop carb solutions and water (60 calories 10.5 grams protein)
Dinner 6pm
30 grams Cereal (8 grams fiber)
250 grams skim milk
Snack 8pm
1 scoop carb solutions and water (60 calories 10.5 grams protein)
You get everything (30.5 grams protein, 24 grams of fiber, all
vitamins) you need.
Total Calories: 653
The fiber keeps your movements in shape and keep you full. Don't eat
anything else.
A lot of diets don't have enough fiber or are too complex and time
consuming.
I worked out 2 hours a day, 7 days a week (1 hour of weights, 1 hour
of cardio) too but even if you do nothing, you will lose a lot of
weight since the calorie intake is so low.
Best of luck to you.

That's certainly amusing and interesting. Are you done losing weight?
What are you going to eat now?

Actually I think you looked up the wrong cereal:

So little more fiber and protein in this one. Anyway, it's not the %
of calories that are goal. You should be counting:
1) total calories ~1000
2) total protein ~70g
Both of which are satisifed well.

But what have you learned? I mean, honestly, could you feed yourself if
you had to eat out at a conference? What are you going to do if you have
to rush to a family member's deathbed? What happens when you go out on a
date or your significant other wants you to eat her cooking?
You've found a cute trick to relieve yourself of having to learn how to
eat. But you've got a lifelong relationship with food and all you've
learned is how not to face it.

I've learned those things don't happen everyday. Occassion slurges
are ok but key is occassional not often.

Well - then you must not have been specific enough, because I took my
measurements direct from the Kashi Website:
www.kashi.com

Less than 1000 cals per day is not healthy unless you are under 5 feet
tall and only about 100lbs or less. Otherwise you are eating too
little
ANd like others have said ...
What do you plan to do when you reach goal? How do you plan to eat
then? Or are you a "good enough for long enough" yoyo dieter?

I think your diet is extreme, and there is no way it's adequate
nutritionally. However, I love kashi crunch cereal, and lately my diet has
been
breakfast - kashi cereal/skim milk,
lunch - vegetarian chili w/ground turkey added for lowfat protein, plus an
ounce of cheddar on top
afternoon snack - apple w/some cheddar
dinner - protein shake w/psyllium husk added for fiber and a tablespoon of
peanut butter.
This comes out to 1470 cal
carbs - 162g, 37%
protein - 124g, 35%
fat - 43g, 27%

Actually if you add up all the minerals, protein, etc you are getting
the recommended dose of everything except perhaps calories.
How much fiber you getting here? Also the crunch cereal isn't as good
as the regular stuff in terms of fiber/calories per gram.

Glad it works for you... This "diet" is definately not one for me. I would
be extremely worried aout my health on this particular approach.... Have
you shared your inspiration with your doctor?

While I love the Kashi cereal and have that for breakfast most days, I
cannot imagine eating it 3x a day for any extended period of time. Not
just because of taste but because it wouldn't help me with any sort of
long term (maintenance) WOE.
FWIW, I get the three pack of Kashi Good Friends, Go Lean and Go Lean
Crunch at BJs. This provides a nice amount of variety for me.
Sometimses I get something like Nature's Path Heritage Multigrain, etc.
to add some additional variety.
