I've lost 9 pounds; am using software to log all food and exercise; have
exercised every day; changed my way of cooking; obtained an accurate scale
and a food scale; am learning about portion sizes; tried a TOPS meeting;
investigated some other weight loss companies; cleaned out my cupboards of
junk; started participating in this newsgroup; joined a gym and made an
appointment with a trainer; and most important of all ---- made an attitude
adjustment.  Now I understand WOE and WOL.  Huge thanks to this group!

Leafing through alt.support.diet, I read a message from avid@learner.org

Just this week, or since starting your new WOL?

> am using software to log all food and exercise

Which one? This was the biggest help for me. The food scale and daily
weighings kept me in control.

> eat less, move more

What is this? Some sort of fad diet?

> 225/216/160

hmmm... I guess it works. ;-) Way to go, Mel!

Hi Phil, I've lost 10 pounds in 10 days.  I realize that is very fast.  By
adopting a new WOE and WOL,  concepts I learned from this group, it's been
extremely successful.  I also realize that the rate of loss will slow down
very soon.

I use DietPower.   I agree with you, it's been a huge help and a
transforming eye opener.

Yep, a brand new very hyped fad diet .. called 'common sense', hehe.

I wish it had the ability to print out more reports though.  For example,
I'd like to see a log of all exercise for the week or month.  It prints out
daily summaries, but not weekly or monthly.

It does one thing well, and that's tracking your caloric deficit and making
sure you reach your target based on your daily weighings and caloric
intake. If you want more detail on exercise, you might consider a program
specifically for that. I use a spreadsheet that I've been tweeking now for
about 8 years.

That's a very fast rate of progress, not only weight wise, but also
with respect to making a lot of changes. I cannot disagree with any of
the choices you are making so far!

Thank you!  I guess you could say I was "ready".  It's positive changes,
many of which I learned from this you and this group.  (I'm starting to
sound like a broken record, lol).
