I was around here years ago, back again.
For a long time I was reasonably happy in the 180s,
then late 2003 I got a double whammy of holiday eating
plus a breakup and divorce, been in the low 200s since.

The other day I found I was 1/2 lb  below my "drop dead crash
diet" weight of 210.

I think 170s would be a good weight but I'd settle for 180s.

My big issues are:
* food on hand is dangerous.
* convenience is crucial
* not a super fussy eater, though

Strategies I'm adopting, with 5.5 lbs of that easy "whoosh" so far:
* a mostly liquid plus fruits and veggies diet. I know it's not the
epitome of neccesarily healthy choices, but it's a semi-discipline I think
I might find it easier to stick with. V8, fruit...small chocolates are
ok...I'm convinced that *small* indulgences aren't my problem, it's eating
bigger meals than I need and too many of them.
* DDR and jogging with a buddy.  Our stamina at jogging is TERRIBLE but
hers is noticeably worse than mine...so it's bad because I'm not as pushed
but good because I like that shallow ego boost.
* Lots of water, always

So that's it. Just saying hi, I'll probably ever be a semi-regular if
that. And I don't want *too* much criticism of my ideas for WoE...I'm
aware that it's not the most intellectual or balanced plan, but I've
learned from hard experience that it has to be super easy for me to
follow, and that I need to leverage my lack of need for variety and food
funness to counteract my laziness in the kitchen.

So hi all!  Hope your work here is going well.

welcome back Kirk. It shouldn't be much of a problem to get back to 180 by
..say July :-)

glad you're thinking about changing your eating habits, but this
statement just strikes me as amusing.  i don't know why; it just
does.  :)

Heh, well, it comes from observing my past courses...

I was amused by my Yoga teacher the other day. So many times he'll stay
stuff like "and this is a great massage for such and such internal organ,
or this is terrific for getting stamina or that kind of thing"...he said
something like "and this is a great pose ... for .... getting your
hamstrings in terrible cramps" and I couldn't stop giggling, just because
I had been looking for a postive, and for the positive to be hamstring
cramps...well...maybe it helped to be there, but I was the only one in the
class who kept giggling.

Thanks for the kind words, all.  I technically didn't break my "just
liquids and fruit and vegetables" WoE with a soup and salad this night,
out socially, because I'm counting soup as a liquid. :-)

The purpose of conversation isn't to demonstrate one's glib intelligence;
it's how we stumble and grope our way through the mists and arrive at
something like intelligence. --Mr. Blue

at the gym earlier, i was trying to think of how i could explain
what i found amusing about your statement (not that you asked or
anything).  "i think broccoli would be good, but i'd settle for
ice cream" is the best i could come up with.  bah.  anyway...

Err, good as in "tasting good" or "good for me"?

If the latter, eh, well, the difference between losing 30 lbs an losing 20
lbs doesn't quite stack up to the nutrition difference of broccoli and ice
cream...both would be decent, and both will probably leave me thinking
"hey--I'm still not buff, I need to lift some stuff"

Anyway, down to 203.5.  Some wavering as either was less strict with my
WoE or more likely (I hope) neglected to exercise.

I just remembered that I now have reference pants...for a long time I wore
36-inch waist Levi Silvertab Jeans, even after I lost before then I
switched to 34-inch, and NOW those 34-inchers are all way too snug.  For
fashion reasons I've switched to cargo pants mostly, but still, I'd really
like to feel comfortable in the 34".  (of course it might be a little
misleading, even at my lowest weights, jeans were snug right after they
were washed)

Good luck, all
