Well, time for a little honesty. I had to do some investigating after my weigh in for February. According to the scale I had gained a pound since January. Talked to some of the regulars on the alt.support.diet newsgroup for guidance and found that the problem possibly is stemming from hitting a plateau for the first time and also my lack of properly measuring my food portions, instead trying to 'eyeball' them. Their suggestion was to continue on and make sure to measure portions to see if the plateau would continue. If it did then there were options to look into to kickstart the weight loss again.

I added another facet to my workout routine, as funny as it sounds - the Xbox video gaming system. There is a 'game' called Yourself! Fitness put out by RespondDesign (www.respondesign.com), which is available for the Xbox, Playstation 2, Nintendo GameCube, & the PC. It's your own personal fitness trainer (Maya) and she works with you through 500 different exercises in her database. She also can help with meal plans with the 2000 recipes she has available. She tailors the workouts according to your fitness level (you go through some physical tests to determine the level) and you can choose different areas to work (core strength, weight loss, cardio, flexibility, etc.) and she can work exercise equipment (like a stability ball, hand weights, etc.) into the workouts. You can set the workout times and each workout is different every time, so it's not like a regular workout tape or DVD where you have the same routine over and over. I enjoy it a lot and recommend it if you are looking for something fun & different to incorporate into your own exercise regimen.

I checked out the ominous scales, and was delighted to see that the changes I made helped me lose another 7.4lbs! My total weightloss is at 144.4lbs, a whole person! It's great to be able to go to K-mart & Wal-mart and be able to pick out shirts to wear instead of having to trek up to GR to get them at the big & tall store!

Thanks again for your support, your thoughts, prayers, & encouragement are important to me!

This sounds really interesting Matty!  It would be something for me to look
into when I have to do a bunch of traveling.

It's pretty cool, as you stay faithful with the workouts you 'unlock'
different workout locations & music. There's also a 'meditation garden'
where you can do yoga with Maya. And at about every 10 sessions she does the
physical tests again to see if you've improved at all.

Check it out!

The original posts has never made it to my news server so I'll have to
piggyback here.

Congratulations on another successful month, Matty.  Glad to hear you were
able to make a few changes and conquer that plateau.

The game sounds like a lot of fun.  I'll have to check it out on my next
trip to the mall.

That's great. Quite possibly, you will see more plateaus as you go on,
there is nothing you can do about it. You are displaying a great
attitude!

Great news, Matty!  I really like your sensible response to the slight
plateau, and that it succeeded so well for you.  Instead of letting it
throw you, you just made a mid-course correction and kept on.  You are
doing so well!
