Hung out at home this morning.  Then went with friends to see the
National Acrobats of Taiwan (amazing!), then out for an early dinner
at Bonefish Grill.

Food:

* 8:15 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese
* 10:30 (home): 1 "fun size" chocolate caramel cup
* 12:00 (home): 142g meatloaf w/ 2 slices melted f/f cheese & catsup
* 1:45 (pre-performance refreshment bar): 4 oz. wine
* 5:30 (restaurant): 1/3 piece bread w/ 1 tsp olive oil w/ basil; 1
cup tossed salad w/ 1/4 tomato, 1/6 oz. pine nuts, & 1 tbs
vinaigrette; 3 oz. salmon w/ 1/4 oz. goat cheese and a couple of
pieces of sundried tomato and artichoke heart (took half or more of
this home); 1/2 cup mashed potatoes; 8 oz. wine

Totals: 1443 calories (257 from alcohol), 57g fat (36%), 81g carbs
(23%), 93g protein (26%)

Exercise:  None.

They recently opened a Bonefish near me but I haven't been there yet.
Did you enjoy it?  Would you recommend it?

I enjoy the restaurant and have been there a few times before.  In
general I'd recommend it, but they serve large portions and many of the
things are clearly prepared with a lot of butter.  And some of the
specials seem "over-engineered"; my salmon would have been better
without the goat cheese, I think, though I enjoy goat cheese on its own
or in salads.  But they have a good selection of grilled fish and some
of the preparation choices are pretty healthy.  And you can always take
half home as I did.

The ones here are very popular.  They take some reservations -- just
for part of their capacity -- and it's well worth getting them.

My mom lives in NC -- Southern Pines -- and they just opened a Bonefish
near her too.  But they have another local seafood grill place that I
much prefer: Shucker's Oyster Bar.  I understand there are others of
these around the Triangle area, and I highly recommend it.  A great
selection of fresh fish with good options for how it's prepared.

Is this the restaurant you are referring to.....

http://www.bonefishgrill.com/home.asp

I never heard of it, until now. I see we have a few in NJ, not far from
me.  It sounds fabulous from what I read on the website.  I have to
take some friends out for a birthday celebration. Looks like a great
place to go.  I love grilled salmon.
I was reading an article recently that Americans are the only people
who can actually make even Sushi fattening. We are a strange people.
What Americans do to Sushi and the amount we eat, is ridiculous.  We
take a traditional Japanese dish and create American Sushi. With more
calories and big portions.  ONLY IN AMERICA.
All Good Things,
Maggie

Yep, that's it.  Do give it a try.  I also love grilled salmon; it's
my single favorite thing to order when I eat in restaurants.  And
Bonefish does a good job with it (which to me means I can get it
cooked rare :-) .)

In case anyone is interested, this is the website for the restaurant
that Chris mentioned:

http://www.shuckersoysterbar.com

Unfortunately, it's not in my neck of the woods.  I'll have to make an
excuse to go there though ;-)

Chris, are you going down to Southern Pines for the US Open in Pinehurst?

No such plans.  I don't follow golf at all, and didn't even know it was
going to be there.  I'm going down to see my Mom at Mother's Day --
hope the Open isn't at the same time.

I once went to watch the Open (I think it was, or else some other big
tournament) when it was here in the DC area at Congressional Country
Club -- the office had tickets and gave me one.  I found it a difficult
spectator sport.  It's hard to know where you want to go, as you can't
see much of the action from any one spot.

My dad has tickets and he is going down.  He was kind of shocked that I
wasn't planning on attending...
