from my summer low of 119. All is not lost, however. This gain was
intentional since I've started a pretty intense (for me) weight lifting
routine and wanted to gain as much muscle as possible. I had lost quite a
bit of muscle during most recent weight loss.
Regardless of my goals, it was still unnerving to watch the scale creep up -
passing 120, 125, then 130. When I got to 132 this week, I couldn't take it
any longer! I had to get a bodycomp done to see how much of it was fat vs.
muscle.
Turns out, I'm 100 lbs lbm, 32 lbs fat - so 24% bf. My bodyfat has stayed
pretty much the same over this whole gain - I've gained about 3 lbs of fat,
and 10 lbs of muscle according to my gym, where I've had caliper tests done
every 3-4 weeks for 3 months now. Doesn't seem possible that I've gained so
much muscle...
Anyhoo - my tanita's bf% has been dead-on with all the caliper tests, so
that's good news.
I squatted 155 today, a new best, I dl'd 175, and benched a measley 75.
My goal is to bench my bodyweight - 130 or so, squat 1.5 - 195, and dl x 2 -
260.

That is pretty cool about the muscle.... How do your clothes fit?

I'm still wearing my 4's and 6's, but my thighs are getting bigger - so I
may have to go back to 8's if this keeps up! Oh well - I'd rather blame it
on muscle gain than fat!

Congrats on the weight gain.....in your squat and other lifts. You know,
when I started working out I continued to lose sizes for a bit but gained
about 20 lbs. I am sure some was fat, but I guess a lot of it was muscle
since I continued to get comments about losing. I think you are on the
right course about measuring your bf%. Oh, not to scare you, but my first
trainer was a woman and she was working very hard on squatting and leg
strength. She weighed 137 when I met her and was a size 6...she was about
14% body fat. She ended up buying new jeans because her rear and thighs
got larger, not huge, just larger, as she worked out. She couldn't decide
if this was a good thing or a bad thing....fat was one thing you could never
call her - she was solid muscle and looked great. Keep up the good work.
Elise.

My trainer started me on lunges on Tuesday. The exercise where you hold a
weight in each hand and lunge around the track (I am not sure if I have the
proper exercise term). Anyway, it really worked my butt. Actually, my butt
is still sore 2 days later. I had to get hubby to massage it last night so
that I could sleep. I think I pulled muscles I didn't know I had and wish I
didn't discover! That has to be one of the most embarrassing exercises when
you have never done them before AND have a terrible center of gravity. I
almost fell 5x. He says that I'll get better with practice. *sigh*

Alas, it's time to curb the calories... My original plan was to bulk up to
130, then cut back down to 122-125. Since I've reached my gaining goal (and
then some) I must revert to fat loss mode, which is not as much fun! I've
been eating around 1650 calories, so I'm going to cut back to around 1300
and try to lose it slow enough it wont be too painful!

With the weight gain, have you gone up in clothing size or has your body
stayed about the same?
