For the past three days I have been eating a lot of fresh salad from my
garden. Tonight I went to the bathroom and didn't pay much attention
(I mean, who does?) and later when my husband came in, apparently,
"everything" hadn't flushed completely and he mentioned to me that it
looked like I had pooed a salad. In fact, he said, he could have put a
little dressing on it, and nobody would have known the difference. (He
was just kidding, of course).
After inspection I was shocked to see that he was right and all of the
lettuce I at today just went right through with NO DIGESTION at all.
Woosh! Just like that!
This really concerns me because I can't be getting anything good out of
this (other than helping to fill me up), if it isn't getting digested.
This is freaking me out. I have never pooed lettuce before!
Do any of you guys have this situation as well where you don't digest
salad stuff? If you don't then what possible good is it? I thought I
was going to be getting all sorts of wonderful nutrients from my garden
like Vitamin C, D, calcium, iron, and all I am getting is lettuce poo!
Suggestions? Comments?

Some fiber isn't digestable and passes through the body. The nutrients
in these types of foods are digested.
I'm not sure what type or amount of lettuce you ate but I wouldn't
worry too much it. What other vegetables did you have with your salad?

Here's a site with some info that might help.

Do you chew your food? I can't see where fully chewed food would still
look like it did when it went in, when it comes out.
I know there have been times that corn (especially when eating corn on the
cob) tends to pass thru undigested. (likewise, swallowed bubble gum also
passes thru that way).
Try chewing your food completely. Use the old trick of 60 chews per bite
(put your utensils down while you are chewing and chew slowly). Once the
food is mush - then swallow - but not until it is mush.

So the environmentally friendly way to get rid of chewing/bubble gum
is to swallow it? Straight down the pan with no mess!

How odd? How long was it between eating the lettuce and pooping it?
Was it still green? I should have thought that the bacteria in your
large intestine would have eaten it producing nice healthy gas!!
