WOMEN'S DIET ENVY May 28 2005

ONE in five women are so upset with failed attempts to lose weight
they sabotage their friends' efforts, says a study.

This can range from urging them to to eat fatty and sugary foods to
telling them they look slimmer when they do not.

Psychologists believe such attempts are not wicked but a subconscious
bid to cover up their misery at their own failed diets.

Many women also lie to friends and family about how much they actually
weigh

Women have always been competitive over looks.
Men may sabotage each other in business, and it's con-
sidered a healthy competitive instinct.  Women sabotage
each other in dieting (and other appearance-related matters)
and it suddenly needs a psychological explanation. What's
wrong with this picture?

Successful dieters who are women sometimes
sabotage others too,  so they can maintain their pre-
carious spot higher up in the heap.

Nah, I never do that. In fact I'm quite the opposite, I usually urge
people NOT to eat bad foods, such as the soda issue lately.

No. Actually, it is called tortous interference and it is good
grounds for suing the ones who indulge in it.
Women often over-estimate how well they understand men and the world
they live in.

Because women usually get away with it, even while constantly
smiling and playing the helpless victim.

Every spot near the top of any heap is precarious, for men, women,
anybody.
