Whoo. Am I glad I ran yesterday and hit the gym early today--the wind's
blowing about 60 MPH out there. Hope hubby scrapped the idea of hunting
out of his tree stand...

I work in downtown Chicago and on the way to train I have to cross a
particular street that has extreme winds if it is windy. It just acts
aerodynamically or something. Anyway, I could cross that street
yesterday, but the smaller, thinner women had very difficult times
crossing it. They were literally blown away and I am not exaggerating.
Barely able to not fall and they were blown away sideways by a couple
yards with every gust.

Wow! Maybe we should give your city a nickname!
(I felt the coldest, most biting wind I've ever felt when I spent a
January in Urbana, Illinois many years ago. I had come from the Northeast
Kingdom of Vermont where 40 below is not unusual and I was, um, "blown
away" by the fierceness of the Plains winter!)

I live in Pennsylvania and the wind is really bad here today. I just looked
out the window and saw my neighbor's tree just hit their house. It is a big
old maple tree, thanks God no one was hurt.

did you hear about Buffalo? the wind picked up a semi
and blew it across a divided highway and it never even
touched the barriers in the median strip. Phew!!!!!

Oh my God, I didn't hear about that. And I thought we had it bad.

Oh. I thought you were referring to farting in the power cage...

Ah, it's all that protein powder--better take it easy, det, or we'll be
buying you depends...

Well maybe he is out of his tree stand. Hope not. If so hope
it didn't hurt too much. My power has been in and out all day.
I had to go out to the Citgo down the block for caffeine this
morning. Obviously the power is back for now, but luckily I
still have some of the supplies I stocked for Isabel in case
it drops again.

So far, so good up here on the rocky coast. We're supposed to have snow
tomorrow! I have 2 10 gallon jugs of water drawn, ran the dishwasher and
took a shower - that almost insures the power won't go out ;-)

It's been very windy around here (Ohio), too. Unfortunately I did lose my
power for about 2 hours. Gawd how I hate to have to reset all those clocks
and other electronics. I can only stand them flashing at me so long :)

It's been very bad here in DC today too. A young girl waiting for a
school bus was seriously injured by a tree that fell on her. She was
airlifted to a hospital. Fortunately, she's doing better this
evening.

We had some pretty bad wind and freezing rain yesterday evening which
combined to literally blow cars off of the road. It took out power in the
middle of the night for a few hours where I work, but not at the house. It
was less windy this morning and the precip stopped around noon and it's a
beautiful clear night. I have a lot of driving to do in the morning so I
hope it stays clear.

We lost power last night. Thank God we have a generator. It was back on
by 5 a.m., so no reason not to go to work. Darn.
