1-1/2 years ago I went on Atkins for the first time. Within 4 months I lost
30 pounds with hardly any effort, not even any exercise. I have maintained
that loss doing low carb or low fat.
Now I want to lose more weight. I restarted Atkins following it to a T just
like I did 1-1/2 years ago. I cannot lose a single ounce. I've checked and
I'm not overdoing it on fatty food, I'm eating lots of allowed veggies and
lean meats, fish, etc. Drinking the suggested amount of water. I even added
some exercise though only walking daily. Still can't lose an ounce.
Prior to this I did a low fat and watching calories diet, with the walking,
on that I couldn't lose anything either. I'm so frustrated and at a loss to
what I should try! help!

Try the phase one South Beach diet.

Try eating less, seriously. Do the same Atkins, etc, but count
calories and make sure that you set a sensible calorie limit.

My suggestion would be to increase your exercise. Walk farther or faster
or maybe add some strength training or Pilates.
Good luck in meeting your goal!

I also just found out about another obstacle. This year I started on a
beta-blockers for hypertension. I just read an article on the atkins
website stating this particular met can interfere with weight loss. Swell.
I was wondering why last year I did so well and this year has been a
struggle with no results. I'll have to discuss it with my doctor though.
Thing is, you think he would know this was possible, and he's been the one
telling me to lost weight. For heaven's sake.

The key phrase here is "not even any exercise". Your body has not
evolved to do nothing - it is a highly developed activity machine that
requires daily use. Atkins stipulates this very clearly.
The *only* exception to that is if you are deliberately doing calorie
restriction as part of some life extension idea; in which case you don't
want to be active because that would have to be fuelled by calories that
you are trying to avoid - but nobody knows the long term consequences of
such a lifestyle, and it sounds very hard to follow to me.
