To get to the core of your question, just Google "Apple Recipes" and
you will be overwhelmed.
I can't eat 'em anymore as they are cross reactive with latex allergy
but I still have my favorite non edible Apple, a desktop iMac G4.

I really like Braeburn apples; they are my favorite apple to snack on.
As far as an apple recipe, here it goes, but be warned, it's not exactly
'diet'.
French Apple Pie
You put a pie crust in a pie dish and fill it with either canned apple
pie filling OR sliced apples (any kind good for baking, the ones you
mentioned would be great) brown sugar, butter, white sugar, a tsp. of
flour, a spinkle of salt.
Then top with a package of store bought apple crisp topping (or
homemade) and bake. Top with whipped cream.
This is a good recipe for me to make for company so I can only have
'one' piece!

mine is oh so quick and satisfying. just dice up an apple and put it in a
microwave safe dish. sprinkle cinnamon over it (not cinnamon sugar) and
just nuke it until the apples are soft. if you want a little vanilla ice
cream on it, that is also extremely yummy
