Has anyone ever read the nutritional labels on sodas? It's absurd - 40g
of sugar per 12oz can, almost a saturated solution. Worse yet, it
doesn't even taste like that much sugar, causing people to drink soda
to not consciously know how many grams of sugar they are taking in (if
they aren't reading the label). Has anyone here ever been fattened up
by sodays?

That's one of the ways I got to where I had been(481lbs - now I estimate at
one point I was over 500lbs)... It was nothing for me to down a 2 liter of
Dr. Pepper in one sitting, usually downed a couple in a day...
I love carbonation, so now I get my fix from low-sodium carbonated water
(lemon lime Canada Dry is my favorite)...

Wasn't there an article out recently that discussed that pop (or soda)
use many other sweetners in addition to sugar.

I had been until I gave them up long ago. I've recently given up diet soda
as well.
Now I drink nothing but water or green tea.

I don't drink pop either. IMO, nothing in either sugary or diet pop is
intended for human consumption. I only drink water, and homemade green
smoothies (combination of watery fruits and leafy greens).
CM new start weight 179.5/ goal weight 140 (to be reassessed when I reach
it)

Fortunately pop has never been a problem for me. I had a lot of kidney
problems as a child and my mom just didn't allow it in the house. We drank
tea lots of tea and still do. But water is my drank of choose. A friend of
mine drank 2 to 3 liters a day he was a truck driver he weighed around 380
and he got really sick . Doctors told him it was the pop the carbonation was
actually eating at his bones and causing his kidney's to shut down. I got him
hooked on tea no sugar just lemon. And he lost 60 pds in 6 mths. without
changing his diet much at all.
Even if you dont have a weight problem pop is just one of the most unhealthy
things you can put in your body.
I am guilty of 1 or 2 cans of diet coke per week at times. I have a 30 pack I
bought back in june and its not 1/2 gone yet and my daught has drank most of
those.
