Nutrisystem Update

I began the Nutrisystem food system three months ago. Some posters
suggested it wouldn't be helpful in learning how to eat properly outside
the system, but I thought it might be an eye-opener about portion
control (which it is). I continued to overeat outside the Nutrisystem
food, which I realized of course would be my downfall. Not much point in
buying Nutrisystem and having a pizza on the way home.

I haven't eaten the N. food all the time, so have gotten my automatic
order every five-six weeks.

A toxic relative of mine died a month ago. It was strictly a relief to
me, but an amazing thing happened. I lost my overeating appetite, at
least to the point where I find it much easier to not overeat or overeat
emotionally or crave "pig fits." I've lost some ten pounds and continue
to eat the Nutrisystem with added vegetables, fruit and cottage cheese
stuff. Basically, the Nutrisystem provides me with a base (lunch and
dinner food) to add to chicken or veg to carry to work. If I am tempted
to grab pizza or whatever, I do have Nutrisystem pizza and remind myself
that I've paid for the N. food already and I just have to get home and
eat some of it and the urge to blow money on crappy food will be past. I
also allow myself that, once I'm home, if I still crave some crappy
food, I'm "allowed" to get back in the car and go buy it, which, given
that I'm coming home from night shifts, I never do.

It is remarkable to feel "normal" about food, given that I probably
haven't ever, and certainly not in recent years (especially since going
back to nights). I haven't gained or lost weight in ten years, but
am/was 80 pounds over a reasonable healthy weight for my age, 52.

I am still stunned at how much easier it is now. I do think the
fiber/fat portions in the Nutrisystem might also help to head off
cravings. Too much sodium, but I guess that's unavoidable in packaged
foods.

I don't represent Nutrisystem or spam or any such.

That you are feeling like a normal person with regards to food, is a
huge relief. Congratulations on that and on getting rid of that toxic
relative.

Glad to hear it's working for you, Ilene.  Sorry to hear about your
relative.
