Okay, I did a 12 Week Body for Life Challenge.  You are supposed to work
out 72 times if you do the challenge perfectly.  I worked out 68 times.

My goal was to lose 15 pounds of fat.  I lost 7.5 pounds of fat.  In my
previous three challenges I lost at least 15 pounds each time, so this was
a sad slowdown for me.

However, I lost 1/2 an inch each off of my hips, my calves and my
thighs.  I also lost 1/4 inch off of my bicep (while growing the
muscle).  Sadly, I lost another 1.25" off of my bust (putting me down a
total of 4.5" since I started measuring!)

The bright spot in my miniscule movement was that my waist dropped a full
two inches.  This appears to be the challenge where it decided to show up.

I started this challenge wearing mostly 18's and some 16's, I'm wearing
mostly 14's and some 16's now.

I'm going to take a training break.  I've got a sore left shoulder that
has been bugging me quite a lot lately.  I was stupidly ignoring it and
pressing through the pain today when a funny thing happened.  I was
dreading my heaviest set of bench presses because my shoulder had been
hurting on all the sets but I pushed myself to do it.  When I got under
the weight I found it surprisingly easy to do!  When I got up from the set
I noticed that I had "forgotten" to load the last 20 pounds.  In 15 months
of lifting I've never done that.  I thought it was sweet that my
subconscious was looking out for me, protecting me from my evil side.  :-)

My original goal was to get to 180.  I feel exhausted from trying.

It's natural to slow down as you get closer to goal, I would think.

This is excellent!  It took a long time for me to start having much of
a waistline also.

Very nice!

Please take care of your shoulder!  My shoulder injury last spring has
developed into a frozen shoulder, which puts all kinds of limits on my
lifting.  It's slowly improving a bit, but it has been a real source
of frustration for me.  One piece of advice: avoid any heavy lifting
that strains it, but do stretches and lightweight exercises to
maintain range of motion.  I've lost a lot of range of motion, and
when I do try to move my arm in some ways it's extremely painful.

I'm not sure what you mean by a training break, but if you mean a
complete break from working out, I'd recommend trying to keep it
short.  If you're feeling overtrained, just take a few days off -- say
over the upcoming holiday -- and then ease back into things.  Do
things you enjoy, not things you dread.  If you take off too long it's
hard to come back.

Congrats on the weight loss Wendy,

You sound like a body builder to me with all the weight lifting...lol.
I'm sure it's a good feeling to see your clothes sizes decreasing.  It looks
like you are nearing your goal.

Good Work,

Paul
