Black Metal Martha - 26 Dec 2005 21:44 GMT >From the show The Osbournes, I always thought of him as a lazy lout, but I've changed my mind. I'm looking forward to his new show Reality Junkie.
He's been out of rehap for a couple of years, lost 65 pounds, and tries all sorts of different extreme sports throughout the world, including Thai kick boxing, running and climbing. The new show features him climbing El Capitan in Yosemite. He completed the 3000 ft Salathe Peak in 6 days this past October.
This is pretty cool, I think. He now wants to be a firefighter, which is a hell of a lot more ambition than I ever thought he had.
Hopefully, he'll be a great inspiration to folks to just get out there.

Very doubtful that anyone will be "inspired" by the hyped - up shenanigans of such a patently fake "celebrity"...

Fake celebrity or not, his before and after photos are inspiration enough.

I'm sure there are people in his age group who might be inspired by his success to make some changes to improve their health and appearance.

And besides, given that dysfunctional family, I'm happy to see one of them doing something relatively normal and healthy :-).

And when was the last time any one of us climbed El Capitan? > Hummm???? :) 'Tis merely a stunt, has nothing to do with anyone's normal everyday reality...I'm a lot more impressed by a person leading a more mundane life who sets healthy new goals, sticks to a plan, and eventually is successful in achieving them. Like one gal I know who dropped a hundred pounds, stopped smoking, etc. and as a result has a new job, a new love life and in fact a whole new *lease* on life. I know plenty of others who've done the same kinds of things...don't need to watch no skaggy Osbournes.
Yoose all need to turn off the teevee and stop reading the tabloids, real life is not some fake celebrity running around doing stuff...your'e obviously the types who follow the latest fad "diets" and spend all that dough on the exercise equipment advertised late at night. You are only running in place like a hamster in a cage if you're so easily impressed,.e.g. you'll not get anywhere.

It's ridiculous to jump to such conclusions from a simple statement suggesting that Jack Osbourne has made improvements to his lifestyle.

Regardless of the publicity and his status, he has acheived much through hard work and excercise. Sounds like he did exactly what you suggest.

>You are only running in place like a hamster in a cage if > you're so easily impressed,.e.g. you'll not get anywhere. Here, this will help you with your problem, it's not a sure cure, but at least it's a starting point.

It's mostly just toward Martha, he's been stalking her online forever. You'll notice he mostly only gets involved here to reply to her.

1 (16-ounce) package vanilla-flavored candy coating (almond bark), broken into pieces 24 hard peppermint candies
1. Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper, aluminum foil or cooking parchment paper. 2. Place candy coating in 8-cup microwavable measure or 2-quart microwavable casserole. Microwave uncovered on High 2 to 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until almost melted. Stir until smooth. 3. Place peppermint candies in heavy plastic bag; crush with rolling pin or bottom of small heavy saucepan. 4. Pour crushed candies into wire strainer. Shake strainer over melted coating until all of the tiniest candy pieces fall into the coating; reserve the larger candy pieces. Stir coating to mix evenly. Spread coating evenly on cookie sheet. 5. Sprinkle evenly with remaining candy pieces. Let stand about 1 hour or until cool and hardened. Break into pieces.
Makes 1 pound of candy.
Purchasing Tip:
Several brands of candy coating are available, and each melts a bit differently. The white color varies, and when melted, some are thinner than others. Make a note of the brand you prefer, and watch carefully while it melts so you can prevent burning.
Chocolate-Peppermint Bark: Substitute chocolate-flavored candy coating for the vanilla candy coating.
Drizzled Peppermint Bark: Heat 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips or white baking chips and 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening until melted. Drizzle over Peppermint Bark before letting stand 1 hour.

I guess one can only hope he does in order for your point to be made.
I'm no fan of the Osbournes, but when any person takes the effort to improve him/herself, they are to be commended.
