I just picked up some of this.
Any success stories here?  It's supposed to promote weight loss and
increase lean muscle mass (I've started lifting weights again).

Could be a placebo, but I figure I'll give it a 2-month try.

Have a look at this on Web MD
http://www.webmd.com/content/Article/87/99559.htm

It works miracles on mice but since humans are not mice. Some studies on
humans do show fat loss and others are less than promising. The only success
stories that would have any meaning would be from tightly controlled
studies. On January 1st I started taking CLA and I weighed 245, as of this
morning I weighed in at 219. Was it the CLA? If all I did was take CLA and
dropped that weight it would mean something. I also made drastic lifestyle
and diet changes. I began to walk everywhere possible, take the stairs, eat
just one meal a day that is low in fat and high in veggies and started
taking DHEA, a multi and Ephedrine twice a day. I gave up beer and all
sweets and snacks.

Did the CLA help? How can I know? If it helped me drop just one of the
pounds it was worth it. One bad side effect is gas from CLA. You will
contrubute to global warming on the stuff.

I would not reccomend anyone go to the exrtemes I have to drop that much
weight so fast. In my case it was lose the weight now or lose my living.

I read somewhere that it might reduce cancer risks, so I added CLA to my row
of supplements.  I would not expect it to be a miracle weightloss pill.

I'm still exercising and following a healthy lifestyle.  I was just
hoping for a boost to lose this last bit of belly fat.

Of course I guess I *could* try eating smaller portions.   :-)

I got this info from the tonalin site. They put together the info for
easy reference. It really does work and heard many success stories. I'm
using a new formulation that's caffeine free along with low glycemic
eating, gotta work on the exercise tho. ;D

CLA has been extensively researched
Over the past 25 years, more than 600 CLA studies have been published
illustrating the many ways CLA may enhance your health.

Studies show, CLA safely decreases body fat four ways:

Decreases the amount of fat stored after eating
Increases how fast fat is broken down in fat cells
Increases the rate of fat metabolism
Decreases the total number of fat cells in our bodies
Clinically tested, TONALIN® CLA is the highest quality, safest way to
put back the CLA that your body is missing. And, a healthy way to help
you achieve your diet goals.

"Conjugated Linoleic Acid Reduces Body Fat in Healthy Exercising
Humans"

from 21.3% to 17.0%, and a reduction in body weight (from 69.6 to 68.9
kg).

"Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) reduced abdominal adipose tissue in
obese middle-aged men with signs of the metabolic syndrome: a
randomised controlled trial."
Institution: International Journal of Obesity

not make changes in their diet and lifestyle during the study.

Results: The CLA group had a significant decrease in abdominal
diameter, an average of one inch from their waistlines.

I've corresponded over the years with a bunch of folks who have
tried CLA.  Some have liked it, some have not noticed any
benefit, some have reported getting water retention bloating.

It sounds to me like some folks have a deficiency of it and
supplements handle the deficiency but folks withhout a
deficiency don't get any benefit.

Makes sense given what I've read from correspondants.  Try
and see.  If you get benefits buy more.  If you don't, run out
and don't buy more.
