I know what to do to lose weight but I get very bored at nights and end up
pigging out on anything that I have in the fridge or cupboards, it can range
from Apples to tins of baked beans, I always feel a little guilty about doing
it but I can't seem to stop. I really need someone to give me the kick up the
bum that I need to get myself slimmer, I want to be 10 stone (140lbs) or
thereabouts by New Years Eve! I am currently 13 stone 11lbs (192lbs) can it
be done and is there something that will kick start my diet to give me an
insentive to carry on?

If you're not eating breakfast then this isn't just boredom, and eating
breakfast will help. Second, why are you bored? Why don't you look around
your community and try activities that are going on that will get you out of
the house, away from the fridge, and maybe even increase your activity?

You have the answer in you original posting. "I end up pigging out on
anything in the fridge or cupboards"
I did the same thing as you. I would watch what I ate during the day,
but then blow the whole thing at night. Grabbing a bag of chips or a
bowl of ice cream or perhap a large glass of milk and more than several
cookies. That is until my wife got on board with weight loss program.
One evening I came home from work and she had cleaned out the fridge
and pantry. The only thing edilble left in the entire house was either
vegetable, fruit or lean meat. She got rid of all the processed food
and anything that had any sugar in it. If I wanted a late night snack
it was a sliced cucumber with vinegar and a touch of spices or a sliced
apple with some cinnamon.
Sure it was difficult but boy did the pounds start to disappear. Which
made it all worth while. Now other than an occasional "treat" I can't
imagine eating anyway other way.

what do you eat during the day? are you starving yourself all day only to
over do it in the evening? You should try 5 or 6 small meals throughout the
day. If you are truly eating out of boredom, get off your a.s! Seriously!
There is no excuse for boredom. I hate it when my kid says, "I'm bored..."
Why are you bored for pete's sake?! There are a million interesting and fun
things to do, get your a.s away from the tv and cupboard and go outside.

Are you cutting your calories too much during the day? Could you arrange
your diet so you have a couple hundred calories for a late evening snack?
If it's simply boredom then find something to do that doesn't give you a
chance to eat. I used to sew in the evenings and this kept my hands busy.
I also jumped on the bike and rode around the neighborhood - it's hard to
eat while riding<g>
Good luck finding a solution to your problem.

The best thing to do would be to leave the house/apt. for a nice long walk
or other activity. But you can't always do that, so, since you've obviously
got a computer, if there's nothing else to do, play games on it.
www.stopbeingbored.com has some really "all consuming" games. I particulary
like the Zombie shooting game "All Hallows Eve". I live in a dull, small
town where they roll up the sidewalks at 6 pm and I can't watch too much tv
before I need to primal scream. Just don't take a bowl of chips, cookies or
ice cream into the "computer room" with you. You might also try logging
everything you eat on www.fitday or create your own spreadsheet. It helps
me tremendously to see listed what I've already eaten. You should make sure
that there are no big deficiencies in your daily nutrition. I think it
really helps keep the munching under control if your body is not "begging"
for nutrients!
