I haven't been here in ages, and I'm sort of surprised how few of the
"old" faces are still around. Where did they all go? It does seem like
the atmosphere of this place has changed a fair amount, but I suppose
it's to be expected. In any case, greetings to you newer people--it's
nice to "meet" you! And hi, too, to all you oldbies.

For those who don't know me, I was here a few years ago, lost 70 pounds
with the support of the fine people here at alt.support.diet, and kept
it off for two years. Then, because of several things not worth
detailing, I slowly started to gain much of the weight back.

I've made a few life changes (or should I say "WOL" changes?) very
recently, and weight is beginning to come off...so, being the creature
of opportunity that I am, I thought I'd go with it. I haven't lost much
yet, maybe 4 pounds, but so far it's coming off slowly but steadily. So
I've set a first goal for myself, what I think is a doable one, to lose
another 10 pounds to fit into my last years' late fall and winter
clothes.

I'm not going to do severe calorie restriction for now (which is how I
lost the weight before), just watch what I eat and drink, and see where
that takes me. After I've lost the 10 pounds, I'll assess from there
just how much work I want to put into weight loss and how far I want to
take it. It would be nice to get down to within 15 or 20 pounds of my
lowest weight, but I don't know yet if I'm going to try to make that
happen.

Anyway, you may see me around...I just wanted to introduce myself to
those who don't know me and say "hi" to those who do.

Thanks.

Good to hear from you even if it is to get back to weight loss.  There
are still quite a few of the familiar faces around.

I think you've chosen a very sensible approach to getting back to goal.
I never seem to hit the 140 mark lately but have been hanging around
141-142 with a big reduction in body fat % lately.  I think that's from
all the biking I've been doing this summer.

Hope to see you posting often.

Thanks, and it's good to see you, too!

It's great you've been able to keep your weight so close to goal and
that you're doing so much biking. I haven't gotten my bike out this
summer, which is really a pity. It was easier to wrap my mind around
biking when I was lighter, not that that's any excuse.

I don't know yet if I'll be posting much or primarily lurking. But I
did want to stick my head in. Thanks for the nice welcome back.

Hey bees - welcome back.  BTW, the other group is getting active again too
(email if you can't remember what I'm referring to).

Thanks for the welcome back! I checked in to the other group...but
there didn't seem to be much weight loss talk going on.... :) Maybe I
should drop in, though, and say hi sometime.

Hi beeswing!  I am "the poster formerly known as determined", back when you
were posting before.  I am back here too only recently, after having a baby
in december.  Glad to see an "oldtimer" around again.  There are a couple of
us posting under new names.  you might pick up on it...;-)

Oh, so you're *you* only under a new name. I get it, now. :)  Who else
is hiding out on me *looks around*? I'm glad to see a familiar face.

Congrats your new baby; how wonderful. Boy or girl? I'm so very happy
for you! (My "baby" will be 12 in December...that's certainly hard to
believe....)

I had a girl - Emily.  And my other daughter will be turning 9 in a few
weeks.  Kind of a big age difference!

Pretty name. And that *is* a big age difference. Should keep you on
your toes, eh? :)

Actually we are.  She's accomplished a lot toward her weight loss goals.
Meanwhile, let's look at your accomplishments: sock puppet who was too
easily busted - how sad is that.  People who have to create other identities
just to have friends, pathetic really.

So what, only you can use a fake email address?  Why do you care what her
real addy is, are you a stalker or something?

I am not a nutritionist. I can use fake email addresses
because you have not to trust in me.

Hey Beeswing,

I'm an oldie, but not active.  (also my screen name has changed, but I'm the
Floridian of the group.  :)

I'll pop my head in here from time to time and if you are around again, I'll
be sure to read and post.
Dally - 29 Aug 2006 02:27 GMT
> Hey Beeswing,

Hey to you too, Beeswing.  I've been hanging out with absurdly athletic
people over in Beginner Triathlete and have nearly left usenet for
LiveJournal, but I still read and post daily when I'm not on vacation.
I lost 80 pounds and fight tooth and nail to keep the last five pounds
off.  So far it's never gone much past that in terms of regaining, but
it could happen easily with just one crisis of some sort or another.

LFM, are you someone I'd bike ride with around your town's canals?  (If
so, I hadn't caught your name change!)

Yes Dally, that would be me!

I just showed DH your pic you posted the link to not too long ago, and I
replied to that post stating that he's AMAZED at how great you look.  Never
would have thought it was you - but he also didn't see you the last time you
were here - he only remembers the first time.

Hey, Dally, I'd wondered where you disappeared to! Congrats on the 80
pounds and the ability to keep it off. And kewl that you're having fun
hanging out with the athletes. :) It's good to see you and I hope you
do post.

I *think* I know who you are, but I'm hesistant to guess in case I'm
wrong. If I'm right, your initials changed. :)

beeswing
LFM - 29 Aug 2006 02:52 GMT
yes you are correct - my initial changed, in more ways than one, really.  It
was 2.5yrs ago I ran off and got married to the long time SO.

and if you take the hint from another poster about checking the other group,
you'd know exactly who I am.  :)

Thanks so much for the welcome. By the way, I was reading this group
the other day with my 11 YO daughter in the room; we both enjoyed your
sig quote. :) And congrats on the progress of your weight loss. It
looks like you are doing great!

Hi Beeswing.  I'm still around - good to see you posting here.  You
were successful at losing before, so using what you've already learned
I'm sure you'll do it again.

Hope to see more posts from you.

Thanks, janice! It's good to see you again. And thanks for the support.

I have to sneak this in...As of this morning, I'm down 1.8 of the 10
pounds I've set my first goal at, so I'm encouraged. I think I *can* do
it, again. Though the first several pounds are always the easiest, as I
remember.

Glad to be back, but not glad to need to be...if ya know I mean.

Welcome back, beeswing! I'm not sure if I was around when you were
posting (I started around fall 2004), but nevertheless it's good to see
you're back on the health train! Choo choo!

That was corny.

Anyway, I am in a similar situation as you are --I lost quite a bit of
weight doing a very low, restrictive calorie diet and unfortunately I
think it messed with my natural hunger signals. I gained most of my
weight back (plus interesting and now I'm trying to get over
binge-eating by eating healthier, exercising, and the like.

Hope to see more of you around!

Thanks for the welcome! I don't mind the health train analogy at all,
as long as it works!
