George Foreman Grill - how to clean?

I just bought a George Foreman Grill because I'm sick and tired of
cleaning the cast-iron Le Creuset. It cooks my chicken tenderloins
quickly and thoroughly. The only trouble I'm having with it is
clean-up: apparently the browned bits of the chicken sick onto the
grill, and I can't submerge any part of the unit in water to clean up.
Do you use some kind of spray to de-lodge the sticky stuff? Water?
Suggestions?

Thanks!

If it's not one that you can remove the plates, there's a trick to it!

When you're just done grilling, you take a soaking wet papertowel, and put
it in between the plates, close it and unplug it. While you eat the steam
with "unstick" the bits of meat and fat.

Then it's MUCH easier to clean when you're done eating!

I *love* my Foreman Grill and have found that a baby-bottle brush
really helps to keep it clean. I put mine in the sink, open it so the
plates are exposed, and run hot water on the plates. Then I scrub it
with the bottle brush. I've never tried "steaming" it but that sounds
great, too -- I've successfully steamed waffle irons (with a wet towel
and an unplugged appliance), back when I was eating waffles. :)

Happy grilling,

It's so simple, you're going to love this:

when I'm done cooking, after I unplug it, I take a paper towel, wet it
down, and throw it in between the plates.  When it's time to clean the
George Foreman it just wipes off - as long as I get to it before the
paper towels dry!

Or perhaps I could just read what you wrote and save the typing.  ;-)

Great minds think alike, and fools seldom differ.

Great advice from you and Willow - I do the same.  I also found some sponges
made for the grill with a scrubber on one half and sponge on the other and
it's grooved to fit.  I used those when there's stuff that doesn't come off
readily.
