This is a story about how Atkins followers are not allowed to eat sat fat

Opinions on the REVISED Atkins?21 Jan 2004 14:37 GMT15
I was watching Judge Judy, I kind of hate that show, but a preview of the
news came on and they said Atkins diet revised, why too much fat may be bad
for you.  What is going on?  Dr Atkins dies and all hell breaks loose?  I
have been reading headlines on other sources of news.  Is ...

High Calorie question.21 Jan 2004 14:18 GMT14
Have a question that is sort of OT (sort of not as well).
I made up a bowl of boiled eggs that I mashed up with a fork and added some
butter, mayonaise and chives.  I then stirred and put in the fridge
overnight.  I then went and calculated how many caloried this concoction
Low Carb Success and Your Blood Sugar21 Jan 2004 14:06 GMT14
I've put together a page that summarizes why it is that if you succeed on a
low carb diet, your very success may may point to your having borderline
abnormal blood sugar levels that, over time, could turn into diabetes or
serious heart disease. The page then goes on to tell you how ...
Food Advertising -- does it bother you?21 Jan 2004 13:39 GMT6
Just wondering if other people have had the same experience I'm having
now (on 2nd week of induction) -- all of a sudden I notice *every*
food ad, and actually have to flip the channel or turn the page to get
away from it -- can't look at it anymore. Not eating so many things, I
I dont want to increase carbs21 Jan 2004 13:37 GMT7
20 lbs down 50 to go:
I've been on Atkins for about 6 weeks, stayed on induction for 3, but
advanced to OWL for a variety of foods. Chosen carefully 25 carbs is a lot
of food. For me extra salads or  hot veggie with dinner.
1st week of induction21 Jan 2004 07:48 GMT9
I have just finished one week of induction.   Didn't lose much, keto
sticks are turning purple though!  I should have measured myself but
didn't, clothes fit the same though.  I weigh 233 on my little
bathroom scale, down from 235.  I'll check at the gym tomorrow as
Richmond, VA CBS TV Station's News  (WTVR)  just trashed  Atkins21 Jan 2004 07:06 GMT1
I was watching the 11:00 News a while ago and couldn't believe it.  They
did about a full 3  minute "news" story where they:
#1:  "Quoted" a New York Times article way out of context, saying that now
that Dr, Atkins is dead, the Atkins Institute has said that people should
"You're never going to see a low-carb Wonder Bread."21 Jan 2004 06:30 GMT12
I found that amusing.   Especially after reading that 32 million
americans are now low-carbing.
I suspect the guy is wrong.

Vision Blurred and Changing?21 Jan 2004 05:22 GMT3
A year ago,  I noticed my vision was changing through out the day.
My eye-doctor just gave me a puzzled look when I told her so  I
self-diagnosed my problem as blood sugar related, maybe pre diabetic.
Whatever the real problem was/is, I don't care because after a few
My view on Atkins Cornbread Mix21 Jan 2004 05:21 GMT5
Hola,

of chili with cornbread.
On the other hand, I am not fond of these new low carb
