Trip to the Dr29 Feb 2004 00:27 GMT9
Thursday  I went in for my appt. I have been low carbing since July 03. My
Dr had suggested I was a candidate for stomach stapling. I seriously
considered it even knowing all the risks. Thankfully I found the Atkins
diet. I have numerous health problems not related to my weight but ...

My wife and I...both on Atkins are celebrating our 25th this year and
wanted to go on a cruise. But Atkins has no cruises scheduled. Anyone
familiar with any cruise lines that cater to Atkins addicts?  Don't want

salt substitutes28 Feb 2004 23:08 GMT1
I had to give up table salt to lower my blood pressure. And, it's working!
Are salt substitutes still quite harmful or are their any relatively safe
replacements?
Thank you!
How Did Dr Atkins Die ?28 Feb 2004 22:42 GMT6
I thought he slipped on some ice and bumped his head . At least that is what
I have seen in this newsgroup. But this Article came out in a well respected
weekly Canadian magazine. If you read the article it goes on to say the
heart problem was not diet related .
Suggestions on going for Mexican tonight28 Feb 2004 22:12 GMT9
Good afternoon all,
I'm going out tonight with a bunch of friends, we're going to a mexican
place.   I was figuring on eating a tostada or taco salad, no beans and of
course not to eat the tortilla.  I'm saving about 1000 calories for dinner
Grapefruit? YES!28 Feb 2004 20:59 GMT34
After reading that a well-conducted study showed that people eating
grapefruit with meals did lose significantly more weight than controls, with
some speculation that a chemical in grapefruit reduces insulin resistance, I
decided to test it out with my trusty blood sugar meter.

I was wondering if anyone makes their own bread in a machine or no machine
that is a low carb version?  I usually don't allow any bread, but I am
testing waters now and want to try and make some.  Anyone?

HEB LoCarb tortillas Randalls LoCarb Wraps 28 Feb 2004 20:19 GMT24
Just a heads up to those who may be interested.....HEB is now carrying "locarb"
tortillas--like someone else mentioned, right next to the regular ones at the
tortilla making stand.  However, the bag is sealed, not twist-tied like the
regular ones, so I dont think they make them ...
Sugar free pickles28 Feb 2004 19:33 GMT2
Particularly, I'm a lover of Bread and Butter pickles and I've been looking
for these here in San Francisco and can't find them.Granted its only been
like 4 stores, but still. Any clue on where to get them in the Bay Area? SF,
Marin, peninsula or SJ are all cool. Not the east bay ...
"Keto Pudding" -- don't bother28 Feb 2004 19:05 GMT6
When I was in a health food store a couple of weeks ago I bought a can of
"Keto (brand) Instant Pudding Mix," banana flavor.  Because a serving has
just 1 effective gram of carbs, I thought it must be too good to be true.  I
made some tonight and boy, was I ever right!
