salt23 Mar 2004 21:20 GMT6
Not only was I indoctrinated my entire life that low-fat, low-cat was
"healthy," but that cutting out as much salt as possible is also
"healthy." Don't *ever* *ever* *ever* put salt purposefully on foods
because they are probably already salted, and you get enough salt from
LOSE 10 POUNDS AND HAVE A NUTRITIONAL EPIPHANY IN 14 DAYS!!23 Mar 2004 21:07 GMT13
Two weeks ago, the GF asked me to go on the South Beach low-carb diet with
her.   Becoming increasinly dissatisfied with my nascent obesity, I was more
than happy to participate.
Well, it's day 14 of my non-carb diet, and I've lost 10 pounds, and had a
Easy to shell hard-boiled eggs23 Mar 2004 20:54 GMT10
Apparently the eggs I get are relatively fresh, because they are quite hard
to shell.  It seems the membrane under the shell has quite a tendency to
stick to the white and not the shell...
Somebody posted here about a month ago about how to make hard-boiled eggs
Cooking a good Seitan  (gluten)23 Mar 2004 19:36 GMT2
Yesterday, I discovered that one could extract wheat protein (gluten)
from flour quite easily.
The process is decribed in all recipies for Seitan, a Japanese meal.
I did it with whole wheat flour, but I'm on my way to buy the right kind
cream of salmon soup23 Mar 2004 19:00 GMT3
I would like to make this soup which is in dana carpender's 15 minute
low-carb recipe book.  However, I only have 1 cup of heavy cream, not 2 as
the recipe states.  I am wondering if I can use the 1 cup of heavy cream I
have and then add 1 cup of half and half?  Has anyone tried ...
low-carb restaurant23 Mar 2004 18:47 GMT8
What do you all think about a low-carb restaurant, opened by people
(investors) like you and I? The menus have all the nutritional information
on them. The menus include a vast array of meats, cheeses, creams, etc. No
bread and no sugar can be found anywhere in the restaurant. Once ...
Stop Hunger Pangs23 Mar 2004 16:35 GMT13
I have recently had some success with a new approach to my eating. In the
past, I found myself plagued with hunger pangs. I didn't eat because I was
upset or emotionally triggered - I was hungry. In the past, I had success
with a Protein Sparing Modified Fast that migrated to a ...
I had my first carb craving crash last week... :-(23 Mar 2004 15:19 GMT7
Well, I survived the business trip without too many problems; was
starting to slip at the end there (I actually let them give me some
mashed potatoes, but I only ate 1/3 of the portion) and got home still
in ketosis.
Body Fat Calculator - Ping: Roger23 Mar 2004 14:58 GMT12
Roger,
You posted a link to a website called am-i-fat.com in the
last couple days.  Do you know what the margin of error is

Low Carb Internet Service23 Mar 2004 14:21 GMT2
When is AOL going to start offerring a Low Carb alternative to their
regular internet service?  And what about a Low Carb hotmail email
account. I wouldn't mind paying a few cents or even dollars more, if I
could have a low carb account.  One that's current with the times.
Exercise question from clueless newbie23 Mar 2004 14:06 GMT4

Protein Power and Atkins. I've lost 30, he has lost 25, we make a great

Let's talk supplements23 Mar 2004 13:36 GMT61
Prior to LC, I rarely took supplements.  Now, as part of an overall
plan of improving my health, I'm taking some.  I started with a basic
multi and calcium, and have added a few others I learned about here
and elsewhere in my 'net perusal.
OT:Sarge Post-Op Update23 Mar 2004 12:51 GMT40
Well, we're back from the hospital and Howard's surgery went well.
The surgeons left as much of the forearm as they could, and went to
great lengths to do all they could to try and prevent phantom pain
(pain that is felt in the part of the body that is no longer there).
