Interesting LC info & recipes in this month's Family Circle23 Mar 2004 12:43 GMT3
Interesting (and unusual) comment about counting carbs in this month's
(April 20) issue of FAMILY CIRCLE magazine, especially considering the back
cover is a huge advertisement for Atkins cereal and breakfast bars!
They list 5 "low carb" recipes (page 102), and have this caveat at ...

Tsk Tsk Tsk.......23 Mar 2004 08:16 GMT18
My this NG has been getting testy as of late.  It didn't used to
be like this.  Everyone needs to focus on being helpful and supportive, because
that's what this group is for, isn't it?  Kumbaya!

used fitday23 Mar 2004 07:35 GMT6
I used fitday as best I could. Not sure how correct some of that stuff
was, and I had to guestimate on portion size for some things. Are the
results below pretty normal for a LCer?

seeking exercise advice23 Mar 2004 07:17 GMT19
My original exercise goal was just "move my body three times a week."
That was OK for a while.  I did three main things for exercise.
I did various classes at the Y  - though my schedule has been too
erratic to keep any class up long enough to get good at anything.
Low Carb Cruises - USA Today23 Mar 2004 06:33 GMT5
I know people have expressed interest in low carb cruises. According
to USA Today there are now a few in the offing. See:

Basically it says: "The low-carb craze sets sail in September on the

Opinion wanted on Mission low-carb tortillas - really low carb?23 Mar 2004 05:40 GMT23
I picked up a package of Mission Low Carb Tortillas, soft taco size, that
claim to have 7g net carbs.  Seems to good to be true considering their
taste and appearance.  They're very white and taste "doughy".  My only
previous experience with low carb tortillas are the ones from La ...
Restaurants?23 Mar 2004 04:53 GMT2
Is there a site that discusses restaurants and low-carb eating?  I know there's
info like that for Weight Watchers, and since so many restaurants are chains,
it might be helpful.
Last night, I went out to California Pizza Kitchen with a friend.  She was

I often hear these mentioned, but I have no idea what they are!

Doctor23 Mar 2004 04:41 GMT1
I went to the doctor today. I've been having terrible pain in my leg
right at the top on the side. Over the weekend I could barely walk. The
doctor said it was my sciatic nerve. He gave me a steroid shot and a
anti inflammatory drug. So far it isn't any better but I guess I'm
Losing appetite23 Mar 2004 04:25 GMT7
Hi folks - I've been doing this for about two/three weeks now, taking
a gradual approach with cutting out the carbs, no specific plan. For
example I let myself have one slice of sprouted whole grain bread a
day, and I eat nuts/peanut butter. The rest of my carbs come from
What I learned23 Mar 2004 04:24 GMT4
I learned that it is difficult to summon any willpower (for me, that is) if
I am  eating trigger food such as sf cookies and peanut butter, or peanuts,
no matter how bad they make me feel.
And I learned again how good it feels to eat the right food, in my case Low

Cauloflower potato salad23 Mar 2004 04:09 GMT14
Has anyone tried this? Is it worth making? I need something new and
different to go with ribs tonight. Potato salad and beans were two standard
sides for this dinner. Any suggestions. Cole slaw is one, but I've been
eating a lot of that lately. TIA
