New poster on South Beach31 Jul 2004 23:44 GMT5
I've been lurking on this group for about 2 weeks now. I started
lurking just before I started the South Beach diet on 7/19.
I take it that although South Beach claims not to be a low-carb diet,
South Beach dieters can find support here.
Does low carb not work for some people?31 Jul 2004 23:40 GMT13
I'm male, 6'1 tall and weigh 234 pounds.  I have tried low carb on and
off over the years and it hasn't worked for me. I read the Atkins 'new
diet revolution' book cover to cover before starting the diet so I
knew what I was doing. The first time I tried it I lost about 4 pounds

Need some reassurance31 Jul 2004 20:59 GMT16
I quit smoking today.  Again. Yes, I know.  Anyway, I am hoping not to
regain any weight.  Is weight gain from quitting smoking due to overeating,
or is there some other reason people tend to gain weight when they quit?
Instead of eating when I get cravings, I am planning to use ...
Attn: Peter- Cheesecake Qtn31 Jul 2004 20:57 GMT1
Hi Peter,
Remember back when you had made Myra's cheesecake, except that you
changed the topping to a blueberry whipped cream (instead of the sour
cream)?
Anyone have nutrition data for *unhulled* sunflower seeds?31 Jul 2004 18:06 GMT6
I always eat them, shell and all...and I cannot find anywhere the nutrition
data for eating them this way.
Thanks!
I'm Surrounded By Pizza31 Jul 2004 17:35 GMT15
When I lived on the West coast, in a nice pricey neighborhood, I could
go to the grocery store and find that the Pizza section only occupied
one or two freezers.
When I moded to middle class and slightly lower Midwest, I found that in
Question re processed foods.31 Jul 2004 10:30 GMT11
Forgive me if this sounds dumb.  But in processed Low Carb foods, such
as Atkins dry cereals, does one not, for weight loss purposes, count
the total carbs and not the 'net' carbs  Aren't 'net' carbs for blood
glucose levels only.
Low carb eating in Cape Cod31 Jul 2004 08:46 GMT12
Hi folks - we're having our formal wedding on Saturday! And departing
Monday for our honeymoon in Cape Cod.
Being in California, and having NEVER been to the East Coast let alone
where we're going, I have no idea what to expect. What can anyone
Cherries are not low carb31 Jul 2004 07:59 GMT31
For me, one of the attractions of low-carb has always been that you don't
have to eat a lot of fruit.  I am not a big fan of fruit, with some
exceptions.  I do like watermelon and cherries.  My dad got a good deal on
some fresh, dark, huge cherries.  I had 6 of them today, about ...
Evil, nasty, hateful thoughts31 Jul 2004 03:35 GMT58
I never, never, NEVER imagined that after losing 50 pounds I would start
having these negative thoughts about overweight people.  I myself am still
overweight, so I have absolutely no justification for judging others.
Yet, in certain situations lately, I have been having these ...
How to eat your carbs!31 Jul 2004 03:13 GMT17
I had lost 45 lbs in about 2 months with Atkins, then as I started gaining
the weight back I learned of carb blockers they are not as good as not
eating carbs but you can eat some carbs and still lose weight. The site was
www.15dayslimdown.com the products work.
fiber31 Jul 2004 03:03 GMT5
Having a huge problem with loose stools. The minute I add bread or
cereal the problem clears up, but my body can't tolerate the carbs. What
low carb veggies are high in fiber?
TIA
Low Carb Snack Bar Recipes?31 Jul 2004 02:58 GMT2
I'd really like to bake some kind of snack bar for the afternoons.  (I
don't have much luck losing weight when I eat the low carb energy
bars, but I really kind of want a bar between lunch and dinner.  I
know I could eat cheese or avocado or something, but I want a bar,
Heavy Cream-Double Cream-whats the diff??31 Jul 2004 02:46 GMT7

single) or is it the same thing, just different lingo??
Cheers VP
