A New Years Surprise!31 Dec 2004 21:42 GMT8
Over the past month or so, I have been eating quite a lot of junk. Our
family decided to not spend a lot of money on presents we really don't
need and to give that money to charity instead. So we made a rule that
we'd only give each other fancy food treats. I was thinking fancy ...

It's almost January 1st.
You can hear the sound of resolutions are being made all over the country.
As always, we can expect an influx of newbies and an influx of all the
usual questions...
Progresso CarbMonitor Soup 31 Dec 2004 04:56 GMT27
FYI...found Progresso CarboMonitor Soup really cheap.  $1.00/can at
Albertson's (in Texas) with their preferred card.  I liked the Chicken
Encilada--6 carbs/serving (1/2 can).  Very filling.
Q: how do people act around you?31 Dec 2004 04:46 GMT18
Ok so in the last year and a half I started to gain weight I mean I wasn't
thin ever but I started to gain 10-15 lbs a month my DR ran tests and it
turned out I had metabolic syndrome and now that I'm on meds I don't gain
anymore... I know so its time to get back on the bandwagon. I ...
BURN FAT FAST - Winter Bicycling Does It30 Dec 2004 20:52 GMT13
Sports in the Winter:
Most bicyclists are warm weather wimps. They hang their bikes up in the
Fall.
A growing number of bikers like to extend their bicycling through the
You know what get's me?30 Dec 2004 13:26 GMT13
That all of these low carb products with sugar alcohols I see never mention
that the "non carbs" from the SA's count.
They count... and people stall, and then people bitch about the DIET not
working, not the fact that they just haaaad to have that peanut butter and
How he lost weight30 Dec 2004 05:23 GMT7
In the movie "The Machinist" Christian Bale loses 63 pounds.  He goes from
normal weight down to amazing ultra thin.  You can see his bones everywhere.
I was wondering how he did it.  I read several articles.  I appears he
starved himself.
BLOOD SUGAR & ATKINS WOE30 Dec 2004 05:19 GMT8
Been lo-carbing since back in 1998, when (believe it or not) the Atkins
diet (sic --- should be WOE) was recommended to me by a doctor. In
addition to Atkins, he recommended chromium picolate to stabilize the
blood sugar. Flash forward six years and now I have to change doctors.
lost weight over Christmas vacation30 Dec 2004 04:44 GMT6
Hehe.  I lost 1.7 pounds while vacationing with relatives in Southern
California.  I was gone for 6 days.
This was cool because instead of eating until I was no longer hungry, I
spent the week eating until full.  I kept a log of my foods and estimated
killfiling30 Dec 2004 01:05 GMT12
Just out of curiousity, when the folks on this group "killfile" someone,
do you take the time to actually respond with a <plonk> remark or do
you just add them into your file? I have never killfiled anyone. I just
mark entire threads as "ignore" instead.
Made Carbquik muffins30 Dec 2004 00:59 GMT11
FYI just made some from the recipe on the 3lb box and they are GREAT! This
stuff really is the ultimate flour replacement so far. Tonight I'm going to
make the yeast rolls at 1g carb/roll. Yum!

licorice29 Dec 2004 22:56 GMT6
I found this licorice web site
http://www.licoriceinternational.com/index.html. Licorice from all over the
world. Good news is that   some are sugarfree/no sweetener varieties and
also artificially sweetened. I didn't realize that it could be bought not
Ever the optimist, a recommittment to rigorous low carbs - and a great first week report!29 Dec 2004 19:08 GMT122
Well, I had to do something before gaining back all my weight. While I
believe that ultimately it is a matter of "calories in" (food) vs
"calories out" (base metabolism + exercise) and while I know that a
straight low-calorie diet can work (I've done it in the past) every time
30 pounds in 30 days??29 Dec 2004 16:52 GMT23
I am new to this newsgroup.  I saw a friend last week who had lost about 60
pounds on LC.  I haven't seen him in about a year, so I don't know if I believe
him when he says he lost 30 pounds his first month of dieting!!  Is such
dramatic weight loss really possible with LC?
