getting creative with recipes31 Oct 2003 21:42 GMT11
Last night I was craving cornbread, so despite the empty calories, decided
to make a pan.  I started playing with the recipe though...  The recipe off
the cornmeal box calls for 1 1/2 cup flour, so I substituted 1/2 cup of Zoom
(oat bran cereal) for part of that.  Instead of 2/3 ...
I'm like Herman Munster31 Oct 2003 20:23 GMT115
Anybody remember The Munsters? There was the episode where Herman went to
the doctor and broke the doctor's scale? When asked about his weight, Herman
would say he weighed "three times", because the scale went 'round three
times when he got on it.
starches necessary?31 Oct 2003 20:15 GMT6
I am new to the group and am classified as a prediabetic.  I would really
like to try leaving out all starches as for years I followed a diabetic
diet which had 2 starch choices at every meal and for 3 snacks.  All I did
was gain fat even though my weight at 155 ibs. and 5'5''is not ...

Happy Holloween Everyone!!
Near the end, the going's tough31 Oct 2003 18:34 GMT5
As I approach my target weight (I'm 5 pounds away) I find that I feel
hungrier every day. The trouble is partly to do with the fact that I
stopped measuring portions (including weighing quantities of food eaten). I
don't know if this is psychological, but I'm wondering how am I ...
Sleep deprivation and weight loss article31 Oct 2003 13:05 GMT2
Someone in an earlier thread (that I couldn't find when I went back to look
for it) was concerned about how sleep deprivation would affect weight loss.
I came across this article and thought y'all might like to read it:

PDA program recommandation sought31 Oct 2003 03:08 GMT3
I am looking for a program for my PDA (Palm )S 3) to keep track of my
food intake. Primarily I only need a food log, the caloric equivalent
would be fine. Maybe some general kind of logbook could do too.
**** But I also want to be able to print out the log on my PC in some

South Beach Diet30 Oct 2003 19:57 GMT3
Anyone here look into this diet? I am hearing you can lose a lot of weight
quickly. The first 2 weeks are tough but the rest is very easy. Does anyone
know of any web pages on this diet. If anyone is on this I would love to
hear how it is going.
Another WOE change for me30 Oct 2003 19:41 GMT2
I'm still eating 400 calories per meal and six to seven meals per day.
Two changes - one I think you'll get a kick out of - my afternoon
meal is now 3.75 oz herring and 3 oz vodka + one can v8 juice.  For
men, I'm convinced that two drinks (3 oz hard liquor) a day is best -
4 inches in 4 months30 Oct 2003 15:52 GMT2
I've gone down from a 46" to a 42" waist in 4 months, still have a long
way to go obviously, but on the right track. I would say just do what
works for you, no magic bullet, patience, eating better, at right times,
less, but don't starve yourself, don't let yourself get hungry, and ...
What is low carb? 30 Oct 2003 15:22 GMT8
Now that big companies are marketing 'low carb' products, I'm wondering exactly
what they mean by low carb?  Do they just mean it has less carbs than the
traditional product, and if so, by how many?
KFC is now marketing some of their chicken as low carb, but at 17carbs per pc
Falling off the wagon/Stress & Relief eating30 Oct 2003 14:35 GMT4
So it only took the biggest fire in San Diego history, and getting evacuated
from my house on Sunday afternoon to put me in stress eating mode, and back to
my old habits.
We were let back into our house on Monday afternoon, and my immediate
