Blood Report, Lo-Carb, Xercise, Heart Blockage03 Nov 2003 13:58 GMT2
Just posting on my latest blood report. I experienced an almost 100%
blockage in my right coronary artery on Feb. 3, '03. Was outfitted with
a stent and since then I've had 3 blood workups, a couple EKG's, and a
stress echo. There's been no further symptoms; both the EKG and ...
Can anyone in USA tell me about US food labelling?03 Nov 2003 13:53 GMT11
I think most countries that require food labels instruct them to show
calories or kilojoules per 100 grams.
From what I've been able to find out on the web, this is not true in the
USA. My understanding is that the nutrition label will show calories per
South Beach - variety in first stage03 Nov 2003 13:21 GMT4
I'm about ready to try the South Beach diet as many friends have lost
weight.  Problem is, this food seems VERY exotic for what I'm used to.
Also, I can't do dairy or nuts, and these are the comfort foods many
of my friends ate during the first couple of weeks... but I can't eat

research help?03 Nov 2003 01:04 GMT1
I am a sociology student at the University of North Carolina at
Asheville.  As part of a senior research project, I am conducting an
online survey.  The survey takes about five minutes to complete, and
participation is voluntary and anonymous.

The Two Pound diet02 Nov 2003 20:53 GMT80
"Mineral Mu_n" pointed out a link to a "two pound diet",
http://www.heartmdphd.com/wtloss.asp . I like the premise of the diet and it
does seem to make sense. Anybody tried this diet? Did you have some success?

ET tonight....02 Nov 2003 18:17 GMT3
Just caught this blurb on Entertainment Tonight.   I particularly like the
comments Emme makes about herself on the magizine covers and her model
friends who are 60lbs lighter than her, who, when even they see themselves
on mag covers they say they've never looked so thin.
Update Mardi--2+ years later (long)02 Nov 2003 15:57 GMT4
I was posting here as "Mardi" back in 2001, and out of curiosity I Googled
my old posts and found this from September of that year:
> Back in April I discovered that my BP was high--it was ranging from 140/90
> to 150/100.  Doctor put me on Norvasc, 5 mg/day.  Since then I've been
Final weekly update02 Nov 2003 03:05 GMT16
Ok folks, this is the last weekly update I'm posting.  I'm 5 weeks into my
transition to regular food and my new WOE from the HMR fast.  I now attend a
weekly maintenance class instead of a weight loss one.  At weigh in this
week my weight hadn't changed from last week and in order ...
Egg beaters -- nice Protein supplement01 Nov 2003 19:00 GMT28
Someone asked a few days ago for a nice tasting protein
supplement. Yesterday I was shopping at sams club and I saw "egg
beaters". Supposedly they are egg whites, with very little other
additives that appear relatively harmless. Probably preservatives.
Blood donation => DOMS?01 Nov 2003 17:44 GMT42
Does anyone know if blood donation is associated with DOMS?
I gave a pint of blood on Friday and was advised to skip my regular
workout.  So I went rollerblading with my kid at the mall for an hour,
instead.  I barely broke a sweat and felt no muscle soreness.  I don't
*whine*01 Nov 2003 17:17 GMT9
I have no clothes that fit me properly. Mark and I went out for dinner
lastnight and it took me almost 2 hours to put together an outfit that
felt and looked ok on me. Everything I own just hangs on me. I have got
to go shopping soon and I am dreading spending the money on clothes I
REC - turkey burgers01 Nov 2003 16:39 GMT10
I bought turkey burger because it was on sale and it was really low in fat.
But I can't stand turkey...  I found a way that I like it, so thought I'd
share.
Thaw 1 lb of turkey, mix in 2 eggs, 2 slices of whole wheat bread, some
who here does resistance training?01 Nov 2003 15:59 GMT53
I'm just curious.  When I first started my quest to lose weight, it was all
cardio, all the time...  But I got turned on to resistance training - first
nautilus equipment, now free weights.
The things I learned that made me a fast believer in weightlifting are:
