Happy dance in new jeans!08 Mar 2004 01:35 GMT28
At my largest, I was wearing size-24 jeans.  Now I'm in size eights!  It's
been more than 20 years (I'll be 37 in May) since I've been able to do this,
so I'm inordinately excited.  Needed to share. . . .  :)

comfort eating07 Mar 2004 22:49 GMT20
I am really struggling with my diet this week.  Feeling low, some
stressful things happening, which is pressing all my buttons for
comfort eating.  A piece of fruit, a yoghurt, anything healthy just
isn't going to do it for me.  I want to eat and eat and eat until the
Food Pyramids07 Mar 2004 22:34 GMT26
Got a question for the masses here:  has anyone had luck losing weight just
by simply following the food pyramid guidelines, like the Canada Food Guide
or the USDA one?
I was doing Atkins for just about two months, and it was working, but I was
Interval Training Question07 Mar 2004 18:39 GMT21
I started doing interval training on the elliptical for 30 mins at a
stretch.  I do 2 mins on level ten then 2 mins on level 2 for recovery.
Here is my question... Should I be in cardiovascular mode during the high
intensity and fat burning mode during recovery?  I currently aim to ...
Fourteen Foods That keep You Healthy07 Mar 2004 17:59 GMT9
I'm one fickle pickle. Since Oprah trimmed down again she's gained
points with me and her shows are hot, hot, hot lately. Yesterday's
program on anti aging in a health sense was excellent and the highlight
was dreamboat Dr. Stephen Pratt discussing fourteen foods that are

Meet Report07 Mar 2004 17:06 GMT8
Just a quickie -- it's been a long day:
The meet went quite well.  I was over-nervous, as always, and didn't
sleep as well as I might have.  It really helped to drive down with
Elise and her son Stuart, though: having someone to talk with and have
Introduction07 Mar 2004 15:32 GMT5
I have been reading this ng for about 3 weeks and have really enjoyed
the posts. I've learned a lot and get a sense of real support for each
other so I thought I'd introduce myself and join the party.  My husband
and I are both overweight. I've fought weight battles since I was ...
Stuff and nonsense, some OT07 Mar 2004 15:06 GMT1
Read or don't read – I'm just rambling.
I worked seven straight days this week. I am the only person in my
office who doesn't want overtime; I am at that stage in my life where
free time is more important than money. But as long as I'm getting the
Wanted - Online dictionary of words used for fitness & diet07 Mar 2004 13:08 GMT1
Is there an online dictionary of words used by fitness people and
dieters?
I keep hearing words like abs, buns, carbs, and many more.  These
words are not in the regular dictionaries.  It seems that people into
Temporarily relocating06 Mar 2004 22:35 GMT2
Once again, Earthlink can't seem to keep it's news servers working, so
I'll have to deal with going through Google for a while. They've
finally gotten so bad, and arrogant about it, that I've filed a
complaint with the BBB. If anyone has a recommendation for a decent IP
Downing Cards... Why?06 Mar 2004 22:21 GMT4
I have noticed that many in this group are anti-carbohidrates.  I have
succesfuly lost weight and encluded carbohidrates.  In the 80's when I last
lost weight carbs were not the bad guy but a valable sorce of energy.  Carbs
(potatos, rice, noodles) unless fried in oil have no fat ...
Despite ban, Ephedra Won't Go Away06 Mar 2004 21:18 GMT8
By April 12, ephedra will disappear from stores and Web sites that sell
dietary supplements, by order of the Food and Drug Administration. But
that does not mean the herb will entirely drop out of sight.
The agency's ban on ephedra specifically excludes uses of the herb in
Hi I'm new06 Mar 2004 20:37 GMT15
Hi everyone.  I've been lurking for a few weeks and I did post a response to
another post but I never heard anything back so I'm going to ask everyone in
the newsgroup.
I'll be 42 in March.  I'm 5'1 and weigh 201, I used to weigh 125.  I'd be
pop addiction06 Mar 2004 20:18 GMT17
I have been having some difficulty quitting a bad pop addiction, and would
appreciate some encouragement/motivation. I am finding this equally if not
more difficult then quitting smoking five years ago.
Thanks,
